Urgent Health Threat? Passenger Throws Up Blood and Dies on Lufthansa Flight

Was it a hemorrhagic fever?

A passenger on a Lufthansa flight from Thailand to Germany died after throwing up “liters of blood” that came out of his mouth and nose. After he died, the plane turned around and went back to Bangkok, where the passengers were rerouted to Germany. But…what did the 63-year-old German passenger suffer from in the first place? Was it an urgent health threat?

This is how it began:

“The unidentified 63-year-old German man was seen boarding the Airbus A380 in Bangkok shortly before midnight visibly sick, with “cold sweats” and “breathing much too quickly,” Karin Missfelder recounted to Swiss German outlet Blick.

At first, she said, his wife claimed they had to rush to catch the flight — which is why he wasn’t feeling well.

But after watching the man for a few moments, Missfelder — who is a nursing specialist at University Hospital in Zurich — said she informed a flight attendant that he needed to be examined by a doctor.

A young Polish man answered the call, but he reportedly only asked the man how he was feeling, felt his pulse and said he was OK.” New York Post

The passenger was not “ok”.  Flight attendants gave him a little chamomile tea. Then Lufthansa personnel performed CPR as the man collapsed. But he died after liters of blood sprayed from his mouth and nose, even getting some of it on the walls of the flight cabin.  This is NOT normal, except for certain hemorrhagic fevers.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

The difficulty here is that despite the efforts of the Lufthansa personnel, something else may have caused the death of this passenger. The other passengers were not quarantined, nor did the officials take any blood samples. Hemorrhagic fevers frequently exist in tropical climates. They can be transmissible. They can be caused from the wildlife in such environments, eating infected meat, or even receiving bites from mosquitoes and ticks. (Mayo Clinic) Thailand is known for having Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever, (DHF) which is caused by mosquitoes.
