Of all of the political arguments that exist in our nation today, perhaps none is quite as divisive as the debate surrounding the legitimacy and the outcome of the 2020 election.
For those on the far right, there are serious concerns over the way in which the vote was conducted, counted, and reported. They see Donald Trump as a victim of voter fraud, and they see the coming 2024 election as a chance at redemption.
On the left, however, there is but one prevailing sentiment, shared by the mainstream media, that all was above board and Donald Trump’s angst was misplaced or misinformed.
But, in spite of the infotainment industry’s repeated and redundant talk about “The Big Lie”, as they’ve branded it, there are still plenty of Republicans who feel differently…and they aren’t willing to keep quiet about it either.
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
The Texas Republican Party this week rejected the outcome outright with a resolution declaring Biden’s win “illegitimate”.
“We reject the certified results of the 2020 presidential election, and we hold that acting President Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. was not legitimately elected by the people of the United States,” the Texas party said in a resolution, passed in a voice vote at its convention.
Texas is a major player in U.S. national politics, with 38 electoral votes, the second highest after California. Voters there have backed Republican presidents for the past four decades.
The move is sure to rile the liberal left, who’ve long been attempting to portray those with election security concerns as “conspiracy theorists”.
