It appears to be a slowly growing phenomenon as anti-gunners continue to push legislation designed to erode the rights of law-abiding gun owners.

According to Fox News, the Lake County, Florida commission approved a Second Amendment sanctuary measure several days ago in reaction to Democrat proposals for mandatory gun buyback efforts. The report first surfaced in the Orlando Sentinel.

The 4-0 commission vote, Fox explained, says that Lake County’s aw-abiding gun owners “are safe from having their firearms taken away.” One commissioner was absent from the vote, but reportedly “expressed support for” the proposal.

Commissioner Josh Blake told the Orlando Sentinel, “It doesn’t mince words, and I hope it sends a message to what can best be described as the authoritarian control freaks who see it as their job to forcibly disarm their fellow citizens.”

However, a Sunshine State gun control group insisted the resolution lacks teeth, and is therefore “meaningless.” Were the shoe on the other foot, however, would anti-gunners be hailing their own effort?

Meanwhile, out in Arizona, Mohave County has joined the Second Amendment sanctuary movement, according to the Review Journal. The county board voted unanimously to become a “sanctuary” for beleaguered gun owners.

Counties in other states have gone on record as unsupportive of local gun control laws.

Similar revolts have been staged by county sheriffs in New Mexico and Washington state. Lawmen are not keen about enforcing laws that may run afoul of the Constitution, and may not accomplish much of anything.

There is a movement gaining momentum to push back draconian gun control laws. Up in Washington, there is presently a grassroots effort to roll back gun control by repealing anti-rights Initiative 1639. Passed by just under 60 percent of the voters who turned out in 2018, I-1639 is a measure that strips young adults of their ability to legally purchase a so-called “semiautomatic assault rifle.” That measure also defined such a firearm, which actually does not exist, in such a way so as to apply to every self-loading rifle ever manufactured.

The repeal effort is a grassroots-organized initiative to the Washington Legislature, I-1094. Petitions are now available in more than 250 gun stores and other locations around the state and the signature campaign appears to have gotten surprising traction.
