Twitter user threatens Trump with photo of rifle: ‘You’re next’ — Twitter does nothing despite reports (Updated)

On Wednesday, President Trump posted a tweet saying he and First Lady Melania Trump are “deeply saddened by the death of Thomas S. Monson, a beloved President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.”  This prompted one Twitter user to post a photo of what appears to be a “Light Hunter” air rifle captioned, “You’re next.”

As of this writing, the tweet is still active and Twitter has taken no action whatsoever, despite having been reported.

(Editor’s note: The account has since been suspended.  See our update below.)

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

One person expressed doubt that Twitter will take any action:

Another person said the Twitter user seems to have a history of this type of activity:

Yes, it does, but as we’ve reported more than once, Twitter often turns a blind eye to leftists who advocate or threaten murder.

Conservatives who disagree with leftists, however, often find themselves suspended or banned by the social media site’s thought police.

One person wrote: “To ‘Jean Grey’ and the 149 people that “liked” her post, let there be no confusion on your part that you are part of the problem in America. Suggesting or supporting the murder of a US President (or any person) whether you like them or not shows a moral derailment of you, not him.”

Another person noted Twitter’s hypocrisy:

According to Breitbart:

Former Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke was temporarily suspended on Twitter, Tuesday, after publishing a series of anti-media posts.

Twitter suspended Clarke’s account and forced the former sheriff to delete the tweets.

“When LYING LIB MEDIA makes up MAKE NEWS to smear me, the ANTIDOTE is to go right at them,” proclaimed Clarke in one of the posts. “Punch them in the nose & MAKE THEM TASTE THEIR OWN BLOOD. Nothing gets a bully like LYING LIB MEDIA’S attention better than to give them a taste of their own blood #neverbackdown.”

According to the Hollywood Reporter, “Clarke’s account was not taken down, but he was barred from tweeting during that time.”

Since Trump’s election, leftists have issued literally thousands of tweets either advocating for or directly threatening to kill the president.  A Twitter search of “kill Trump” will generally provide one with a number of tweets by radicals wanting the president dead.

Exit question: Will Twitter enforce its own policies against these kind of messages, or will it continue to operate with a blatant double-standard?  Our guess is the latter…

Update:  As of 10:05 a.m. Pacific Time, the account had been suspended.  The tweet, however, was archived and can still be seen here.
