On Sunday, presumptive Democrat nominee Joe Biden issued a tweet in which he promised to not only beat Donald Trump, but “transform” America afterward.
“We’re going to beat Donald Trump. And when we do, we won’t just rebuild this nation — we’ll transform it,” he said.
We’ve heard this rhetoric before. During a stop in Columbia, Missouri in 2008, Barack Obama famously said: “Now, Mizzou, I just have two words for you tonight: five days. Five days. After decades of broken politics in Washington, and eight years of failed policies from George W. Bush, and 21 months of a campaign that’s taken us from the rocky coast of Maine to the sunshine of California, we are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America.”
Now, we’re hearing the same thing from Joe Biden:

But transform it into what, exactly? One person suggested:

We tend to agree. Remember, Biden spent decades in Congress before becoming Vice President under Obama. In all those years, he’s done nothing but enrich and empower himself. And there’s nothing to indicate that anything has changed.

Breitbart noted:
The promise comes on the heels of a dark Independence Day message in which he vowed to “rip out” what he sees as “systemic racism” in the country:

Again, he’s already spent decades in office. Why hasn’t he done anything before now?
Kyle Olson also observed that Biden has repeatedly talked about using one crisis or another to change America:
He said on April 22:
I believe, because, sort of, the blinders have been taken off, because of this COVID crisis, I think people are realizing, “My Lord. Look at what is possible. Look at the institutional changes we can make – without us becoming a ‘socialist country,’ or any of that malarkey – that we can make to provide the opportunities to change the institutional drawbacks …” from education, all the way through to all the other things we talked about.
On April 17, Biden said, “We have an opportunity now to take, in a recovery act, a real recovery. We can fundamentally change the science relating to global warming.”
And on April 16, he said, “I think we have an opportunity now to significantly change the mindset of the American people, things they weren’t ready to do, even two, three years ago,” all thanks to the virus.
