While speaking at a campaign event in Green Bay, Wisconsin, GOP nominee Donald Trump proposed a plan he said would “drain the swamp” in Washington, D.C., and end the self-interested decisions of bureaucrats and politicians.
“If we let the Clinton Cartel run this government, history will record that 2017 was the year America lost its independence,” he said. “We will not let that happen. It is time to drain the swamp in Washington, D.C.
“When Bill Clinton came into office, he signed an executive order saying if you work for the White House or a federal agency, you can’t lobby the government for five years after you leave,” he told the rally.
“But then, President Clinton did what the Clintons always do — he rigged the system on his way out. Clinton lifted the executive order so the Clintons and their cronies like John Podesta could start raking in cash.”

He also proposed a five-point plan:
“First: I am going to re-institute a 5-year ban on all executive branch officials lobbying the government for 5 years after they leave government service. I am going to ask Congress to pass this ban into law so that it cannot be lifted by executive order.
“Second: I am going to ask Congress to institute its own 5-year ban on lobbying by former members of Congress and their staffs,” he said.
“Third: I am going to expand the definition of lobbyist so we close all the loopholes that former government officials use by labeling themselves consultants and advisors when we all know they are lobbyists.
“Fourth: I am going to issue a lifetime ban against senior executive branch officials lobbying on behalf of a foreign government.
“Fifth: I am going to ask Congress to pass a campaign finance reform that prevents registered foreign lobbyists from raising money in American elections,” Trump added.
On Tuesday, contributor David Thornton suggested that the key to stopping Hillary is maintaining a GOP majority in Congress.
“The only certain way to stop Hillary’s agenda before it starts is to make sure that the Republican majority in the Senate is preserved,” he said, arguing that Republicans have been somewhat successful in stopping Obama.
But there’s no guarantee that Republicans will even try to stop Hillary, given that some are openly demanding Trump step down, effectively giving America to Clinton and her puppet-master, George Soros.
In fact, it’s the feckless GOP that has made Trump so popular.
The only certain way to stop Hillary is to defeat her at the polls, then enact real reform that, as Trump said, drains the swamp in Washington.
