Trump scolds media, tells reporters immigration order not a ‘Muslim ban’

On Sunday, President Trump doubled down on his order temporarily banning immigration from seven countries known to be hotbeds of terrorism and scolded the liberal media for pushing the false left-wing narrative that his order amounts to a “Muslim ban.”

Politico issued an email which read, in part:

“America is a proud nation of immigrants and we will continue to show compassion to those fleeing oppression, but we will do so while protecting our own citizens and border,” Trump said in an afternoon statement that also chastised journalists covering the fall-out. “To be clear, this is not a Muslim ban, as the media is falsely reporting. This is not about religion — this is about terror and keeping our country safe.”

Here’s an image of the email we received from Politico:

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Trump ban

That statement, highlighted in the image above, was not found in the article Politico linked to.  Instead, Politico wrote:

“America is a proud nation of immigrants and we will continue to show compassion to those fleeing oppression, but we will do so while protecting our own citizens and border. America has always been the land of the free and home of the brave. We will keep it free and keep it safe, as the media knows, but refuses to say,” he said in an afternoon statement that also referenced the policies of President Barack Obama twice.

Wonder why?

The Hill added:

President Trump on Saturday denied that his sweeping executive order barring refugees and individuals from several predominantly Muslim nations amounted to a ban on Muslims.

“It’s not a Muslim ban,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office after he signed three new directives.

The order, handed down Friday evening, sowed chaos as government agencies scrambled to implement the broad new policy.

But Trump insisted his administration was “totally prepared” to carry out the refugee and travel ban, which affects more than 100 million people around the world.

The media has also been less than open about the fact that Barack Obama selected the countries listed in Trump’s ban.

Townhall’s Matt Vespa wrote:

As the Left and some Republicans lose their minds over President Donald J. Trump’s executive order on immigration, let’s not forget that the list of concerned countries that the Trump administration outlined in the order is based on the one signed into law by the former Obama administration. So, it looks like the Obama White House set the groundwork…

Vespa added:

Yet, I don’t remember the Left freaking out over this. I certainly don’t remember them going indiscriminately insane when the Obama White House stopped processing Iraqi visas for six months when—surprise! —Al-Qaeda operatives feigned refugee status to get relocated to Bowling Green, Kentucky. And yes, some of the applicants worked as intelligence assets and interpreters for the U.S. military, according to ABC News. But remember, that was when a Democrat was in the Oval Office, so it was okay back then.

Wonder why that is?  Or do I really need to ask?
