President Trump announced on Thursday that he will issue a full pardon to Conservative filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza.

And he was targeted – for an illegal campaign contribution. Yes, he pleaded guilty. But it also happened that his movie Obama’s America – 2016 was released just prior to the 2012 election… was it revenge on the part of Obama? Likely.

The usual liberal trolls followed the President’s tweet regarding the pardon, but most of the comments from normal people were positive. Did Mr. D’Souza make a mistake? Yes. But Democrats have a far worse track record for illegal campaign money:

BARACK OBAMA’S presidential campaign has been fined $375,000 by the Federal Election Commission for violating federal disclosure laws, Politico reports.
An FEC audit of Obama for America’s 2008 records found the committee failed to disclose millions of dollars in contributions and dragged its feet in refunding millions more in excess contributions.
The resulting fine, one of the largest ever handed down by the FEC, is the result of a failure to disclose or improperly disclosing thousands of contributions to Obama for America during the then-senator’s 2008 presidential run, documents show.
The FEC says the Obama campaign failed to disclose the sources of 1,300 large donations, which together accounted for nearly $1.9 million. Election Commission rules state campaigns must report donations of $1,000 or more within 20 days of Election Day.
What was that about illegal campaign donations? Hmmmmm? It didn’t matter, though, Obama’s administration tried to smash Dinesh D’Souza. Basically he did the same thing Rosie O’Donnell just got caught doing.

D’Souza’s 2014 indictment was announced by then-U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara, who was appointed by Obama and fired in 2017 by Trump. The indictment stated that D’Souza was charged with one count of illegally donating to a Senate campaign and one count of causing false statements to be made to authorities in connection with the contributions.
D’Souza’s illegal campaign contribution was made in 2012 to Long’s U.S. Senate campaign. D’Souza pleaded guilty to using a “straw donor” to make the donation.
A straw donor is a person who illegally uses another person’s finances to make a political contribution in their own name. Straw donor schemes are illegal under U.S. law, which states that no person should knowingly permit their name to be used to “effect such a contribution” and no person “shall knowingly accept” a contribution made by “one person in the name of another person.”
D’Souza allegedly coordinated donations to Long’s campaign through friends and acquaintances. Long lost her Senate bid against now-Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y.
The winner of that election was a radical leftist named Kirsten Gillibrand. She has been a rabid anti-Trumper and pro-Obama-ite. As a Senator, she has treated both military and Conservatives with great disrespect and done everything in her thankfully limited power to obstruct the GOP.
Mr. D’Souza made a mistake. But his instincts about Gillibrand were right on. As a legal immigrant, he has been a strong voice for Conservatives and Christians for a very long time.
