With all the hatred and division being sown by the tyrannical left these days, especially against those who serve in local police departments across America, it’s nice to see a happy story come out every once in a while. Last Thursday, WDAM reported that one six-year-old Covington County, Mississippi girl called 911 to tell her local police how much she loves them.
That’s right — loves them.
According to the report, six-year-old Mylah Santa Maria called 911 the previous Tuesday night but quickly hung up the phone. Dispatchers called right back, just to make sure everything was okay.
WDAM posted a transcript of the call:
Dispatcher: Hello, this is 911, we had a call from this number.
Mylah: Hey, um, I need y’all to tell the sheriff, tomorrow.
Dispatcher: Tell the sheriff what.
Mylah: That I love him and I love all of y’all.
Dispatcher: OK, I will make sure that I get that to him, OK?
Mylah: OK.
Sheriff Darrell Perkins was so touched by this he reached out to the family and met Mylah face-to-face at her family’s home. He also brought gifts, which included a basket of school supplies and a special Covington County Sheriff’s Department challenge coin.
“Everybody at the sheriff’s department said we’ve got to find out who this little girl is,” he said.
As he left, she hugged him and gave him a piece of paper with a drawing of a red heart.

According to the report, little Mylah starts first grade in just a few weeks.
“I’ll come visit you at school, OK?” Perkins said before he left.
Now, this is the kind of thing we need to see more of.
