To hell with the Constitution: Dem Rep. Steve Cohen introduces amendment to get rid of Electoral College

It seems that radical Democrats have no use whatsoever for the Constitution. On Thursday, The Hill reported that Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Tenn., introduced two constitutional amendments — one to eliminate the Electoral College and another to prevent presidents from pardoning themselves or members of their families.
“In two presidential elections since 2000, including the most recent one in which Hillary Clinton won 2.8 million more votes than her opponent, the winner of the popular vote did not win the election because of the distorting effect of the outdated Electoral College,” Cohen said. “Americans expect and deserve the winner of the popular vote to win office.”
But that’s not how this works.
According to The Hill:
Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton, won 65.8 million votes and he lost the popular vote.
Some Democrats have also increasingly criticized the electoral college since 2016, when Trump lost the popular vote but won the presidency because he won the electoral college.
“More than a century ago, we amended our Constitution to provide for the direct election of U.S. Senators,” Cohen added. “It is past time to directly elect our President and Vice President.”
There’s only one problem.
Under the system Cohen and the Democrats want, presidents would be selected by far-left voters in California and New York. To prevent this very thing from happening, the framers wisely chose to develop the Electoral College.
Twitchy noted:
When are they going to introduce an amendment to eliminate the House of Representatives? It’s the only thing we haven’t seen calls to abolish recently: the Senate, the Electoral College, the Supreme Court have all been nominated for the chopping block.
The alternate title of the proposed legislation is the "Instead of admitting Hillary Clinton was a lousy candidate let's change the whole Constitution" bill. https://t.co/sa9o8c5As2

That’s pretty much what this is.
The Hill correctly noted that Cohen’s amendments are “…unlikely to pass since they require a two-thirds vote in both houses of Congress and then must be ratified by three-fourths of states.”
Nevertheless, it’s clear now that Democrats have no use for the Constitution and are willing to do whatever it takes to secure power.
One person noted:
This is exactly why we have the 2nd amendment.

Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.
