The Ukraine War: Putin’s “Special Military Operation”
Russia began a full-scale invasion of Ukraine last night after Putin announced a “special military operation.” As of this morning, they seized an airport near Kyiv, blocked roads, and thousands of foreigners are trapped in the country. The Ukraine war has begun, and there is more at stake than those of us here in the US may realize: from the rising gas prices that will crush our economy to the giant-sized loss of life. NATO has activated it response force to protect NATO members. Because we’re now watching Ukraine being invaded, is Taiwan next? Count on it after more Chinese jets flew over Taiwan’s Air defense zone today.
Russia has gone full Russia
Putin has made his choice on Ukraine joining NATO and he is not changing his mind. All diplomacy failed.
Xi will take Taiwan next
Nuclear threats are real, but not inevitable, and that is the question before us now

Last night, the legacy media was abuzz with the news of bombs exploding around Kyiv, Lviv, Mariupol, Kharkiv, and other major cities in Ukraine. Air raid sirens went off all around the country as Russian aircraft dropped munitions. The Ukraine war began in earnest. Zelensky declared martial law and a distribution of weapons to everyone who could help defend the nation, as Ukrainians fought back. Ukrainian aircraft engaged Russian aircraft.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba delivered a fiery speech and tweeted:
Right now, Putin is plunging Europe into its darkest time since 1939. Any government hoping to sit this out is naïve. Don’t repeat mistakes of the past. Hit Russia with severe sanctions now. Help Ukraine with military and financial support. Together we can #StopRussianAggression..
Ukraine has severed diplomatic relations with Russia. I call on all our partners to do the same. By this concrete step you will demonstrate that you stand by Ukraine and categorically reject the most blatant act of aggression in Europe since WWII…
No, this is not a Russian invasion only in the east of Ukraine, but a full-scale attack from multiple directions. No, the Ukrainian defense has not collapsed. Ukrainian army took the fight. Ukraine stands with both feet on the ground & continues to defend itself…
Putin has just launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Peaceful Ukrainian cities are under strikes. This is a war of aggression. Ukraine will defend itself and will win. The world can and must stop Putin. The time to act is now.

?? #Ukraine Kyiv’s (very deep) metro also serves as a bomb shelter. People started going underground today, with blankets, food, pets, after warnings of an imminent Russian attack. (That’s a water fountain being installed)

None of this is without consequences for Russia, as anti-war protests broke out in St Petersburg and Moscow. Russian police arrested many. The question we have is, with the Oligarchs being targeted financially, will Putin be in serious trouble?
