The Solutions From The Two Parties To Fix Unemployment

The Republicans and the Democrats are looking at the government assistance issue differently. The government handing out money has stopped many companies from being able to find employees. Some people are saying that companies need to pay better, but many of these businesses are small and are struggling to make the kind of money that could lead to paying more than government assistance.

While the GOP could be complaining to be seen by their core voters as understanding of the situation, they are pointing out what is happening. The Democrats just keep wanting to take from those who create businesses and stop people from working.

GOP Reaction

Here is part of an email sent out by GOP Representative Rob Wittman (VA-1).

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

While Americans should be returning to work as we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, we instead see the exact opposite. At the end of April, U.S. employers had 9.3 million job openings available – the highest number since the beginning of this recorded data in 2000. Nearly half of small businesses claim they cannot fill open jobs, as the volume of ‘help wanted’ signs continue to surge throughout the country.

This comes as yet another one of Biden’s jobs reports did not meet expectations – the May jobs report was nothing short of disappointing:

  • The 559,000 jobs added in May falls short of expectations by 100K
  • The United States is still down 7.6 MILLION jobs or 5% from its pre-pandemic levels
  • The labor force participation rate was little changed at 61.6% in May
  • 20K construction jobs were lost
  • 26K food and beverage industry jobs were lost
  • Businesses are unable to fill 8.1 MILLION jobs available
  • 9.3 MILLION people were unemployed and potentially available to work
  • A record-high 48% of small business owners in May reported unfilled job openings. This is the fourth consecutive month of record-high readings for unfilled job openings and is 26 points higher than the 48-year historical reading of 22%.

Unfortunately, President Biden continues to squander the economic recovery he inherited from the Trump administration. We must stop encouraging folks to remain unemployed and start incentivizing Americans to get back to work. I will remain focused on supporting policies that create more jobs and put more money in the pockets of hard-working Virginians.

Democrat Reaction

Here is an email that went out about the same time from Democrat Representative Elaine Luria (VA-2).

One of my top priorities is advocating for policies that support working families across Coastal Virginia. As a mother, I understand the importance of investing in our families and helping them become more financially secure. In March, I voted for the American Rescue Plan, which expanded the Child Tax Credit (CTC).

Under the American Rescue Plan, the CTC increased from the previous $2,000 per child to $3,000 per child and $3,600 per child under age six. Those eligible for this relief include single filers earning up to $75,000, head of household filers earning up to $112,500, and joint filers earning up to $150,000. Approximately 39 million households, covering 90 percent of children in the United States, will begin seeing their automatic monthly payments starting on July 15 with no action required. Families who did not file a tax return and did not use the IRS non filers tool to register for Economic Impact Payments should use the IRS Child Tax Credit Non-filer Sign-up Tool as soon as possible to ensure they can receive their payments in a timely manner.

It is getting to the point that people need to start seeing that this is causing debt that is getting out of hand. The amount of interest payments is overwhelming, not just the debt. These levels of debt have already started nations crumbling. Take into account that there are large chunks of the debt owned by other nations, which means it has many seeing it as a national security issue. It is time for people to get some thoughts into how to get rid of it because politicians of both parties are increasing it. The GOP has been as bad in this as the Democrats.
