On Thursday, NPR reported that there simply are not enough face masks manufactured in the United States to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.
According to the report:
(Prestige Ameritech Executive Vice President Mike) Bowen is at the center of a major problem that the coronavirus has made crystal clear: There aren’t enough domestic manufacturers for critical medical supplies such as face masks. And even if production ramps up, it’s unlikely to be enough in the current outbreak.
Usually, businesses want orders to spike — they hope customers line up for their products.
But Bowen is not pleased.
His company simply can’t keep up with demand. 3M — one of the biggest mask makers — is in the same predicament. It says it’s stepping up production at its factories around the world, but it can’t fulfill all the new orders.
There’s a reason for that.
The Obama administration eviscerated the military of the United States by cutting their funding. Things became so bad by the end of Obama’s second term, that there were not enough aircraft ready to defend the country. Lack of spare parts had basically grounded a significant part of the air force.

American industry also took a pounding during the Obama administration. 60,000 factories closed their doors. Some forever, and some went to China to have their products made there.
One of the industries that folded in America and outsourced manufacturing to China was the breathing protection face masks.
When Obama began his time of destructive president, there were six major face mask factories in the United States. They could meet the needs of the country for the majority of the masks needed.
When Obama packed his bags, and left Deep State saboteurs inside the White House, there was only one medical mask manufacturer left in the United States. Today this one lone factory produces about 5% of the masks needed yearly in the US. The rest come from China, India, and Taiwan. Almost all coming from China.

China uses subsidies on these products to keep the price so low, that they drive US producers out of business. It’s a violation of international trade agreements and regulations to provide such subsidies to their local mask manufacturers, but the Chinese government does it anyway. It happened during the Obama administration and Obama turned the other way.
On February 3rd, President Trump spoke to this issue:
“The corona virus hows the importance of bringing manufacturing back to America so that we are producing, at home, the medicines and equipment and everything else that we need to protect the public’s health,” he said.
“That process has already started. We want to make certain things at home. We want to be doing our manufacturing at home. It’s not only done in China; it’s done in many other places, including Ireland, and a lot of places make our different drugs and things that we need so badly,” he added.
