A Texas Democrat county commissioner was arrested Thursday on charges that he and three associates committed mail-in ballot fraud in a 2018 primary election.
Gregg County commissioner Shannon Brown – along with Marlena Jackson, Charlie Burns and DeWayne Ward – was indicted by a grand jury, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced.
Brown won his March Democratic primary by a tally of 1,047 to 1,042. He received a much greater share of his support from absentee ballots, according to the Texas Tribune.
Ballots for 38 voters, the report reads, accuse Brown and the others of “intentionally [causing] false information to be provided on an application for ballot by mail.”

Applications allegedly indicated that “the voter was disabled, when in fact the voter was not disabled.”
It is unclear what percentage of the 38 ballots were successfully processed.

Texas AG Discusses Mail-In Ballot Fraud
Paxton, in announcing the latest charges, claims “elections can be stolen outright by mail ballot fraud.”
“Election fraud, particularly an organized mail ballot fraud scheme orchestrated by political operatives, is an affront to democracy and results in voter disenfranchisement and corruption at the highest level,” he said.

97 of the total felony counts were against Jackson, with 30 of them for alleged election fraud.
Brown was hit with 23 counts, and Burns and Ward eight and six respectively.
The penalties, according to Fox News, can range anywhere between six months in jail to 99 years in prison.
Paxton, earlier this summer, claimed that mail-in fraud is more prevalent than some may realize.
“Two-thirds of our cases over the last decade have been about mail-in ballots,” he claimed . “And so we know for a fact that there is mail-in ballot voter fraud going on every day.”
Recent History of Problems
President Trump recently tweeted a video commentary by Tucker Carlson which covers a case in Pennsylvania where nine military mail-in ballots were reportedly found in a ditch .
A majority of those ballots – seven – were for the President.
“Democrats are rigging our 2020 election!” he claimed .
Earlier this month, an error in over 400 Michigan overseas military and overseas ballots listed the Libertarian Party’s VP pick, Jeremy Cohen, as Trump’s running mate instead of Mike Pence.

Two weeks ago, over 1,600 ballots from New Jersey’s July primary were discovered in a “mislabeled” bin in a “secure area” at a Board of Elections office.
The primary had taken place in July. The results would not have changed had the bin of ballots been properly tabulated.

“Those who try to manipulate the outcome of elections in Texas must be held accountable,” Paxton said of the latest charges.
Shouldn’t that be the mantra across the entire country?
