Teen Athletes File Lawsuit Against Connecticut- Males Competing Against Women is Unfair

A group of teen athletes has filed a federal discrimination lawsuit against the state of Connecticut because of “transgender” males that are being allowed to compete in women’s sports. They say that the practice is unfair to the teen athletes who worked hard in their sport, and may cost them scholarships.

Title IX won the right for women to compete equally in the sports arena. Now, those advances are at serious risk, because men are competing against women in sports…and winning.

“Girls deserve to compete on a level playing field. Women fought long and hard to earn the equal athletic opportunities that Title IX provides. Allowing boys to compete in girls’ sports reverses nearly 50 years of advances for women under this law. We shouldn’t force these young women to be spectators in their own sports.” Christina Holcomb, Alliance Defending Freedom Washington Times

The complaint names two transgender athletes: Terry Miller and Andraya Yearwood, both of whom have competed in women’s events. The Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference says its policies conform to the non-discrimination policy of the state of Connecticut.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

“We all know the outcome of the race before it even starts; it’s demoralizing. I fully support and am happy for these athletes for being true to themselves. They should have the right to express themselves in school, but athletics have always had extra rules to keep the competition fair.” Selina Soule, one of the plaintiffs in the lawsuit from Glastonbury High School

The names of the other two plaintiffs were not disclosed.

The issue of transgenders competing against women has been growing in recent years. Fairness is thrown out the window when they compete – and win – against women who don’t have the same upper body strength and speed. There are 17 states, including Connecticut, that allow transgenders to compete in women’s sports.
