Tampa Police receive tip, Seminole Heights killer arrested

Just in: A young man has been arrested who fatally shot four innocent people since October in Seminole Heights, Tampa Fl. has been arrested.

Tampa police has arrested 24-year-old Howell Emanuel Donaldson III, also known as Trai, after questioning him when they responded to a tip about someone with a gun at an Ybor City McDonald’s on Tuesday afternoon, ABC Action News has reported.

ABC Action News:

During a 5 p.m. news conference, Tampa police chief Brian Dugan said he was “optimistic” that the situation was related to the Seminole Heights killer.

“The way things are progressing, things are starting to fall into place,” Dugan said.

Initially, when questioned about the firearm, the police chief said “we have a gun, but we don’t know if it’s our gun,” referencing the murder weapon involved in the four homicides in the Seminole Heights neighborhood in October and November.

Chief Dugan arrived at the McDonald’s shortly after 4:00 p.m. and was seen walking around a red mustang that was taped off.

Detectives were later seen collecting evidence from the red Ford Mustang, believed to belong to Donaldson, parked in the McDonald’s parking lot.

Earlier in November, residents and police have been on edge since Oct. 9, when 22-year-old Benjamin Mitchell was shot to death. Two days later, 32-year-old Monica Hoffa was slain. And on Oct. 19, Anthony Naiboa, 20, was killed after taking the wrong bus home from his new job.

All of the October victims were either getting on or off a city bus, or were at a bus stop when they were shot, police said. The reward for information about four deadly shootings that leads to an arrest is up to $110,000.

Hopefully this is the suspect and those in Tampa can rest and know that a killer is off the street. Why this man, when he is officially charged, did this is beyond reason.

Chief Dugan stated that there will be more information on Tuesday as it is very early in the investigation after 5000 tips. Dugan also stressed to still be cautious until more is known from the suspect.
