Israel used MSM reporting to assist in a deception that took out numerous terrorists. On top of the reporting, Israeli officials made statements that allowed Hamas to believe that a ground war was imminent. They also amassed Israeli tanks along the border to further the deception. They used Tweets to round out the trick.

MSM reporting was incorrect, but it did serve the purpose. The paper did issue a correction after the IDF told them that the Israeli Defense Forces were “not in Gaza.” They never were. It was a deception that lured terrorists into the network of tunnels where Hamas had amassed weapons. It worked spectacularly. Israel then bombed the tunnels.

The Daily Wire reported:
Voice of America reported, “In response to the buildup, Hamas military spokesman Abu Obeida said the group was not afraid of a ground invasion, saying any invasion would be a chance ‘to increase our catch’ of dead or captive soldiers, according to The Associated Press.”
But all the rhetoric from Israeli officials and the build-up of ground forces was a tactical deception. The news that Israel was commencing a ground assault reportedly provoked Hamas to send its anti-tank missile teams and mortar squads that were set to attack Israeli forces into what the IDF refers to as Hamas’ “Metro,” a network of underground tunnels built by Hamas after the 2014 war between Israel and Hamas where Hamas moved its terrorists and stored weapons.
After the ruse had been set up, Israel bombed the tunnels.
Israel has faced enemies on all sides, from Hamas and Islamic Jihad in Gaza to Hezbollah in Lebanon. The IDF stated they can’t afford to have battles that go on and on, endangering their citizens. It took them just 40 minutes to inflict severe damage on their enemies.
Over 2,000 rockets were launched against Israel over the last several days. Deception has been a hallmark of war for centuries. It worked in this case as it usually does, with MSM reporting biting the hook.
