Supporters speak out on reports that Trump ‘flip-flopped’ on immigration — Poll

On Thursday, NBC News reported on what many — especially the so-called “mainstream media” — are calling Donald Trump’s “stunning flip-flop” on illegal immigration.
“Let me go a step further — they’ll pay back-taxes, they have to pay taxes, there’s no amnesty, as such, there’s no amnesty, but we work with them,” he told Sean Hannity, assuring the Fox host and others present there would be no citizenship.
“When I look at the rooms and I have this all over, now everybody agrees we get the bad ones out,” Trump added. “But when I go through and I meet thousands and thousands of people on this subject…they’ve said, Mr. Trump, I love you, but to take a person that has been here for 15 or 20 years and throw them and the family out, it’s so tough, Mr. Trump.”
Even Ann Coulter, a staunch Trump supporter who castigated Ted Cruz and his supporters — even calling them “traitors” — expressed concern, since the news broke about the same time as her new book, “In Trump We Trust.”
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
In that book, Coulter wrote: “There’s nothing Trump can do that won’t be forgiven. Except change his immigration policies.”
Only part he left out was the "hoops" they'll have to jump through! Trump:"No citizenship. Let me go a step further—they'll pay back-taxes"

She later told The Hill that Trump panicked…

But what do grassroots supporters — the people NBC News didn’t speak to — really think? Do they see this as a “flip-flop,” or a media-generated controversy intended to hurt the candidate?
We asked a few of those activists to weigh in and let us know what they thought.
Mike Michaels is the administrator of the largest Tea Party group on Facebook. So big, Michaels tells me, it’s the “number one-ranked Tea Party group for both member size and poster activity.”
Michaels told me he doesn’t see this as a flip-flop at all. Trump, he said, is “now campaigning in the general election, not the primary, and he needs to get elected in order to build the wall to keep illegal immigrants out.” The GOP nominee, he added, is “the strongest presidential candidate against illegal immigration and Muslim immigration that I have ever seen in my life!”
He further blamed what he called the “sore loser Cruzers” and the #NeverTrump camp for the current brouhaha.
Tim Selaty, Sr., founder of Tea Party Community, also told me he doesn’t see this as a flip-flop.
Trump, he said, knows that he has to beat Hillary Clinton and “is being practical.”
Selaty isn’t letting this get in his way, however, and is preparing for what he called “Handcuffs for Hillary protests” set for this weekend. (More on that to come)
Gerry Emery, a personal friend who runs the popular “Wake Up, America!” Facebook page and a new blog by the same name, agreed.
“Trump has never flip-flopped,” he told me. “It’s all about ILLEGAL immigration.”
Liberals, he added, “take what he says out of context. It’s what they do best. Can’t expect any better from Marxists who call themselves Democrats to fool the inept.”
