NYC voted for a radical, leftist, socialist/communist in Tuesday’s Democrat Primary. Zohran Mamdani is (reportedly) originally from Uganda and grew up in New York City. But it is his extreme platform that is causing concerns:
- Freeze rent.
- Free buses
- Social workers in the “Department of Community Safety” which will take the role of police in most cases.
- Free childcare
- Government-owned grocery stores
- “Affordability, equity, and growth” for NYC housing
- Cracking down on bad landlords
- Taxing millionaire citizens of NYC and “big corporations” at 1%
- “Baby baskets” for NYC newborns
- “Lead a massive decarbonization and climate resiliency process citywide”
- Raise the minimum wage to $30.
- Regulate delivery apps
- He plans to make “NYC an LGBTQIA+ sanctuary city and protect reproductive rights.” That means he’s a proponent of abortion.
- Trump-proofing NYC from ICE
- Reject “Medicare advantage” programs in favor of a special commission. (That’s right, kill the seniors)
Mamdani claims to be supportive of small business, but seeking a $30 minimum wage would be a disaster for every “mom and pop” bodega across the city. Having the city own all the grocery stores would destroy choice. Perhaps the greatest concern was his support for a “global intifada” – or armed conflict (against Jews).

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
Tuesday was the Democrat primary. Mamdani ran against former NY Governor Andrew Cuomo, who conceded the race. He will now run against Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa, the founder of the “Guardian Angels,” an organization that patrols the streets.

Mayor Eric Adams is planning an independent run against Mamdani to try and stop him from becoming NYC Mayor. Dems and Republicans are not happy. Could be interesting.
