St Louis Park Reversed Vote On Pledge

Minnesota – Back in June, the St Louis Park city council passed a resolution to dump the Pledge of Allegiance from their meetings as we previously reported. They are in Ilhan Omar’s 5th Congressional District. The backlash from their unanimous vote was instant and far reaching, even as far as the President. On Monday night, St Louis Park reversed their decision…unanimously. But was it done begrudgingly?

“The Pledge of Allegiance to our great Country, in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, is under siege. That is why I am going to win the Great State of Minnesota in the 2020 Election. People are sick and tired of this stupidity and disloyalty to our wonderful USA!” President Trump in a tweet

Fox9 reported,

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Many spoke to threatening phone calls and emails they received over the last three weeks, saying it was affecting their ability to do their jobs, and negatively impacting staff.

“It’s impacting our staff’s productivity and mental health. Our wonderful staff. It’s costing us money,” said council member Margaret Rog.

Rog also spoke to the fact that many of the protesters who showed up at city hall Monday were not St. Louis Park residents.

“You visitors from Coon Rapids, Orono, Lakeville, Rochester—wherever you’re from: take your energy for civic engagement back to your own communities.”

Council member Anne Mavity, who proposed the original vote to limit the reciting of the pledge, voted Monday to reinstate it–but not before addressing her critics.

“I’m not sure that if you say the pledge three times a month instead of this two, you’re more patriotic. Or if you say it one time a month you’re less patriotic. That makes no sense,” she said.

But do they really get it? No. They caved to pressure, but they really don’t get it any more than Ilhan Omar gets anything.

“You want people to hate us because we start our meetings in a way you deem politically incorrect, As we strive to have liberty and justice for all, please let us have our liberty here and respect our local control.” Tim Brausen

He wants people to respect “local control.” That’s not the point. First of all, no one wants anyone to hate them. What we want is respect for our nation. What we want is respect for the flag and those who fought and died for it. Only one council member, Steve Hallifan, stated that he regretted his prior action and asked forgiveness. The rest changed their votes begrudgingly.
