In rural Georgia, an hour or so’s drive from the capital in Atlanta, sits a strange monument of unknown origin known as the Georgia Guidestones.
The Stonehenge-like structure features not only giant pieces of rock constructed and combined in a purposeful monolith, but mysterious inscriptions as well, that appear to be aimed at providing rules for some future, post-apocalyptic human race.
A message consisting of a set of ten guidelines or principles is engraved on the Georgia Guidestones[16] in eight different languages, one language on each face of the four large upright stones. Moving clockwise around the structure from due north, these languages are: English, Spanish, Swahili, Hindi, Hebrew, Arabic, Traditional Chinese, and Russian.

This week, someone blew up part of the Guidestones.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said agents found evidence of an explosion at the scene.
“The preliminary information indicates that unknown individuals detonated an explosive device at around 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6th. Elbert County Sheriff’s Office personnel responded to discover the explosion destroyed a large portion of the structure.”
GDOT has closed down roads in the area as local and state police investigate.
Channel 2′s Richard Elliot was in Elbert County, where the monument is sometimes referred to as the “American Stonehenge.” It’s four slabs and central pillar function like a functions like a compass, calendar and clock.
Images of the damaged monument were soon circulating on social media.
