Shifty Comrade Schiff Pushing DOJ to Consider Criminal Charges for Trump

With the first of their primetime, public hearings now complete, it appears as though the January 6th select committee is ready to say the quiet part out loud.

From the very beginning of the committee’s work, it has been rather obvious to members of the GOP that the probe is meant to neuter the chances of Donald Trump taking office again in 2024, and to vilify the MAGA Movement as a whole.  Folks like Jim Jordan and Matt Gaetz have been explaining this to us for months on end.

But now, just days after the group help the first of their “bombshell” hearings, (produced by a former ABC television executive, no less), some members of the panel are already suggesting that Donald Trump be charged with some crime in connection to the event.

Members of the House committee investigating Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn his 2020 election defeat called on Sunday for the US justice department to consider a criminal indictment for the former president and warned that “the danger is still out there”.

Their comments on the eve of the second of the panel’s televised hearings into the January 6 2021 insurrection and deadly Capitol attack will add further pressure on attorney general Merrick Garland, who has angered some Democrats by so far taking no action despite growing evidence of Trump’s culpability.

“There are certain actions, parts of these different lines of effort to overturn the election, that I don’t see evidence the justice department is investigating,” committee member Adam Schiff, Democratic congressman for California, told ABC’s This Week.

Schiff, who is known for his belligerence on the subject of Trump, was no less bombastic than usual.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

“Once the evidence is accumulated by the justice department, it needs to make a decision about whether it can prove to a jury beyond a reasonable doubt the president’s guilt or anyone else’s,” Schiff said.

“But they need to be investigated if there’s credible evidence, which I think there is.”

Donald Trump has already been acquitted of “inciting” the insurrection during his second impeachment trial, which is another reason why the GOP is so frustrated with the committee’s continued focus on the former President.
