An off-duty Seguin Police Officer was first on scene and stopped a man who was carrying a firearm with extra rounds while wearing a surgical face shield and tactical clothing, according to Blue Lives Matter. The man told the officer that he was headed to church to “fulfill a prophecy.” He was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of  Marijuana.

The man was identified as Tony Dwayne Albert, 33.  Seguin PD posted this:

On Sunday, December 30, 2018, just before 7:00 am, officers responded to the 2400 W. Kingsbury St. in reference to a male subject carrying what was believed to be a firearm (handgun).

An SPD officer, who was off-duty at the time, was the first on the scene and observed an oddly dressed male wearing tactical style clothing, a surgical face shield, carrying a loaded firearm and extra ammunition.

During the investigation, officers revealed that 33 year old Tony Albert was allegedly en-route to unidentified church to fulfill what he called a prophecy.

As a result of the investigation, Albert was arrested and transported to the Guadalupe County Jail where he was booked in for Possession of Marjuana and Felon in Possession of Firearm.

This morning, the Seguin Police Department is extremely grateful to the citizen who called police. If this subject was not stopped and apprehended the results could have ended differently.

Was another Sutherland Springs church shooting averted? Likely. Though the suspect didn’t identify which church he was going to and didn’t specify what the “prophecy” was, it could have become a nightmare if the ladies hadn’t reported what they saw.

Some of the comments on the story reflected the sense of relief felt by the Seguin community at word of this arrest.

“Next time you allow your kid insult the police, think about this story, if not for this officer , this could have been a horror story…” Vicki

“Great job by the observant citizen that had a feeling something might be wrong. Great job by the Seguin Police Department.” TammyLyn

“Had this citizen chosen to not call or look the other way we would be hearing about another senseless killing, Thank you our citizens and our police officers.” John
