Schumer — Who Claims To Care About Students — Blocks School Safety Vote Named After Parkland Victims
Dems as well as their media (and other) surrogates have done much finger-pointing at Republicans over school shootings. But when will THEIR inaction be called into question?
Most of the ‘solutions’ pushed by anti-gun activists are nothing more than chipping away at gun ownership generally. In almost every instance, their knee-jerk responses to tragedy would have done nothing to prevent the tragedies that are prompting the changes in the first place.
The elementary school shooting in Texas is no exception.
That doesn’t mean we need to sit helplessly on our hands wishing the problem would just go away. There are steps that can be taken to make children safer.
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
But the same Democrats that were desperate to shovel pandemic money out the door to make schools safe from a virus that left young children relatively unscathed, aren’t interested in federal initiatives that would take concrete steps to make schools safer.
They bow before every OTHER kind of political expertise but for some reason, aren’t interested in ‘the science’ of established best practices.
Chuck Schumer blocked the unanimous consent adoption of a safety bill that the father of a Parkland school victim has been advocating for years.
Not surprising that the Democrat leader would lie about the bill he blocked that parents of Parkland victims have been trying to pass for years.
Dems aren’t looking for solutions, they want wedge issues that they hope will keep them in power. Sick. https://t.co/f4zbNb03ey

The bill, named after Parkland, Florida, shooting victims Luke Hoyer and Alex Schachter, would require the Department of Homeland Security to establish a “Federal Clearinghouse on School Safety Best Practices” for use by state and local educational and law-enforcement agencies, institutions of higher education, health professionals, and the public. And it would require DHS to “collect clearinghouse data analytics, user feedback on the implementation of best practices and recommendations identified by the clearinghouse, and any evaluations conducted on these best practices and recommendations.”
Schumer isn’t interested in any of that. He is interested in gun legislation, to the exclusion of others.
.@SenSchumer 21 people were murdered yesterday. Today you objected to passing the Luke & Alex School Safety Act named after my son was murdered in Parkland. The bill will save kids lives. Let’s meet to work together to prevent the next Uvalde and Parkland. pic.twitter.com/XvVsGz2hYx

Schumer tweeted his excuse for blocking it. It was every bit as bad as you think.
Wisconsin @SenRonJohnson joins Neil as he asks the Senate to pass the Luke and Alex School Safety Act: “My legislation would have actually directed people, schools to government grants so they can fund some of these school safety initiatives.” pic.twitter.com/krNFL8ZtfY

Before the week was out, we learned that ‘initial reports of a school resource officer confronting the suspect before entering the school were not accurate’. (Updated timeline here)
Schachter, whose son was one of 17 people murdered more than four years ago at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, said Schumer’s tweet is “completely false.”
“How does a website put guns in schools? It’s ridiculous,” Schachter told Fox News Digital in an interview. “It has nothing to do with guns. It’s just a website of best practices. It doesn’t mandate anything.”
“I thought that after 19 children and two teachers were just murdered in Uvalde, Texas, partisan politics will be put aside and that families might at least have some positive news out of Congress from their elected leaders,” he said. “I was naive to think that a horrible mass shooting would make people do the right thing. And unfortunately, you know, he didn’t. He blocked it.”
“It’s heartbreaking,” he added. —MSN
