Richland County, South Carolina – Although some schools were supposedly “worried” about the safety of their kids during the “National Walkout Day” and took action against some who stayed behind, there was one school that left everything without supervision…including the student’s backpacks. The custodian at Richland Northeast High School was arrested on Thursday for stealing money out of three students’ backpacks.
Aisha Evans, 32, allegedly went through the backpacks of three different students, taking a total of $180 cash while they were gone for the 17 minute protest on March 14. She was charged with three counts of petty theft after an investigation by the school resource officer and Richland County Sheriff’s Department. Evans was fired by the school district.
“Evans was employed by Service Solutions. Richland School District Two contracts with Service Solutions to provide custodial services at schools and offices in the district.
On Thursday, March 15, Service Solutions notified Richland Two that Evans is no longer an employee with the company and was informed that she cannot come on any Richland Two property.” Richland Two Spokesperson Libby Roof in a statement
Evans was taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. Since the offense is a misdemeanor, she was released on a PR bond of $2,125 for each charge.

[Note: the backpacks appeared to have been left unattended in the classroom, not in their locked lockers. Hopefully that will be a lesson learned for the students].
