Republican Independence Day parade float wins, Democrats cry racism, spread fake news

On the day that America celebrated its independence, various parades and floats lined city streets across the country, but in one Georgia county, Democrats are crying foul and called the Republican parade float, “racist.”  Some Democrats are also apparently spreading false claims about the float.

In Cobb County, Georgia, the Republican Party, after nearly 20 hours of work building their parade float, won the top award and on Thursday, the Democrats’ meltdown began.

Here’s a photo of the award-winning float, posted to the Party’s Facebook page:

floatThe Cobb County Republican Party Chairman, Jason Shepherd, reported that an angry Democrat had called (Audio not available at this time) the Cobb GOP headquarters condemning the Cobb GOP’s “racist” float. Shepherd stated on Facebook that, “Yes, the same float that won the ‘Judges Award’ is apparently ‘racist.’”

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Then things got even more bizarre when a Hillary Clinton supporter, Democrat Loris Aline Mann, posted in a private group called “Cobb Candidate Forum,” that, “I am disgusted that some of our neighbors in Cobb actually thought it was ‘clever’ or ‘funny’ to build this float for the Marietta 4th of July parade and have their children pose for photos in a ‘cage’.”

Here’s a screenshot of the post:

Shepherd explained to one person on Facebook: “Since we had kids as young as four and five on the float (including my 5 and 6 year olds), we needed something to make sure that those who could not sit on the benches had a strong and secure barrier to keep from falling off.”

He also noted: “However, what I did see and hear were the Democrats as they came over to snap close-up pictures of the kids playing on the float while we were waiting for the parade to start saying how they would make the picture have it look like the kids were in cages, which is clearly not the case.”

On Twitter, another Democrat stated, “Your float represented hate, and discrimination. You should rethink your strategy. Shameful!”

It didn’t end there.  The radical leftist organization, Georgia Alliance for Social Justice, tweeted this.

In response, Shepherd said, “In 2010 when I ran for the state house, the Democrats called my immigrant wife ‘a mail order bride.’ Now they crop a photo of my son on our award winning float and accuse me of putting him in a cage… people without shame or integrity.”

In explaining the reason behind the float, Shepherd stated, “When the Marietta Parade Committee asked for a description of our float for the announcers, here is what we gave them which were read when the float passed the reviewing stand”:

“Let Freedom Ring from Liberty Square…the Cobb GOP float takes us back to 1776 invoking our founding period. The Bricks represent America’s resolve for Independence. The powder barrels represent the militia, ordinary people who took up arms against tyranny and the Tea Chests, our freedom of speech.”

As to the idea for the float, Shepherd posted a photo and said, “People want to know what inspired the Cobb GOP float this year? This photo I took in 2013 at Disney World.”
