Red State Purging Christians from Military Ranks

Liberty Counsel Lawsuit

One red state is in the crosshairs of a lawsuit after their National Guard Commander instituted a policy that forces out officers for being a Christian. And their milk toast Governor has not intervened. Basically, they are purging Christians.

Red State Purge

Major General Timothy Donnellan, who became Red State Idaho’s Adjutant General for the National Guard in 2024, reportedly instituted the “No Christians in Command” policy in the Idaho National Guard. The Assistant Adjutant General, Brig. Gen James Packwood’s bio reads like an endless book of positions and awards, but nothing on it speaks to why they hate Christians.

The targeting forced out Major David Worley, so he contacted the Liberty Counsel. The complaint alleges that one person complained to command that the Major used ‘hostile words’ in information that was against the person’s ‘sexual orientation’ from a press clipping that occurred prior to and outside of his command. In other words, Major Worley objected to drag shows in libraries and the complainant didn’t like it.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

As a result of the EO Complaint, Major Worley was subjected to an administrative proceeding (hereinafter the “AR 15-6”) in which he was investigated for his alleged offenses and was immediately suspended pending the process of that investigation and its conclusion.
As a result of the investigation, the Investigating Officer recommended to Defendants that Major Worley be permanently removed from command. The sole basis for this recommended removal of Major Worley was that he had engaged in religious expression and speech the Investigating Officer found offensive.
To make matters worse, as part of his report to Defendants, the Investigating Officer recommended that Defendants adopt a policy (hereinafter the “No Christians in Command” Policy) to ferret out “extremists” in the military by looking at the social media
profiles of potential command candidates to make sure there is no “concerning information” about them, to determine how those candidates portray themselves publicly, to make sure the candidate would be supportive of a “diverse” groups of subordinates, and to get “the full picture” of the candidate’s beliefs, views, and public expression, including whether they had any “concerning ideologies.”
The only “concerning” information about Major Worley was, of course, his religious views, beliefs, expression, and speech, and his religious exercise that the Complaining Guardsman found offensive and the EO Complaint based on that purported offense that Defendants
used to investigate, discipline, and remove Major Worley from command.” Complaint

Idaho has previously been a reliable red state in all elections. But this policy by The Idaho National guard is wrong-headed and ridiculous. We hope that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth will implement the President’s Executive Order to protect Christians quickly.
