Jeff Session is facing what Ken Blackwell, the former mayor of Cincinnati, the former State Treasurer of Ohio, and former Secretary of State of the Buckeye State, has stated is nothing short of character assassination at the hands of both the Senate Democrats and the mainstream press.
Specifically, as reported by The Washington Examiner;
“Their aim was clear: to try to define Mr. Sessions as a caricature, stepping straight out of the segregated South and into the Department of Justice, ignoring his 20-year career as a United States senator.”
Blackwell also happens to be black.
Perhaps best illustrating just how low the Left will stoop in their attacks against Sessions, Leftist propaganda sites The Huffington Post and The Nation accuse Sessions of having the bad manners of being named after both Confederate President Jefferson Davis as well as CSA General Pierre Gustave Toutant Beauregard.
In actuality, Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III was named after his father, who was named after his father before him.
I can’t help but wonder if liberals ever accused ex-NBC news anchor Stone Phillips of being a closeted Grand Cyclops in charge of his local KKK Klavern. After all, Phillips is named after his great-grandfather Stonewall Jackson Phillips.
By the way, Sessions has never held the title of Grand Cyclops, Kleagle or any other hierarchical Klan title simply because he was never a member of the KKK, unlike the former Senator from West Virginia, Robert Byrd (D).
As it turns out, the Sessions lynch mob is wound-up over a 1985 Alabama voter fraud case in which the Yellowhammer State’s Attorney General Jeff Sessions prosecuted against self-aggrandized “civil rights” workers he believed were illegally filling out absentee voter ballots.
Nonetheless, it was an Alabama jury that threw the case out of court. I guess the system really does work. Even in evil, racist Alabama. No… wait.
But I digress, the left-leaning media is pretty much ignoring that it was the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Alabama, a certain Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III, who in 1986 was instrumental in the prosecution and execution of the Alabama KKK head honcho, Henry Hays, who had lynched an innocent 19-year-old black man.
It was also noted that “The successful prosecution of Hays also led to a $7 million civil judgment against the Klan, effectively breaking the back of the KKK in Alabama.” But don’t expect HuffPo or The Nation to ever mention that.
When it comes to how well Senator Jeff Sessions worked with Democrats while in the Senate, it should be noted that he voted in favor of confirming both Hillary Clinton and then John Kerry for Secretary of State.
In all fairness, it should be cited that Sessions also voted in favor of confirming Eric Holder to be Barack Obama’s initial Attorney General.
However, in an unusually close roll call vote, Session voted against Loretta Lynch’s passage to succeed Holder. What very well may have caused Senate conservatives to oppose her was the strong belief that Lynch had quite the track record of prosecuting only those cases that fitted her personal and political agenda.
