‘Rebels’ reveal witch hunts, intolerance of conservatives at Google after firing of viewpoint diversity manifesto author

On Monday, Breitbart.com and others reported that James Damore, the Google employee who penned a 10-page “diversity manifesto” explaining that men and women are different, was fired after sparking outrage from left-wing employees and social justice warriors online.  Since that firing was made known, “rebels” at the company have stepped forward, revealing witch-hunts and intolerance of those whose political views are not in lock-step with Google management, Breitbart said.

Breitbart started its series with an interview by an employee identified only as “Hal,” who asked not to be identified out of concern for his job.

“Witch hunts are a well-known cultural problem at Google,” Hal told Breitbart. “The company is currently facing a Federal complaint filed by the National Labor Relations Board in April for interfering with employees’ legal right to discuss “workplace diversity and social justice initiatives.” The complaint alleges that Senior Vice President Urs Holzle and numerous managers in his organization actively stoked up witch hunts in 2015 and 2016 intended to muzzle low-level employees who raised concerns about the company’s practices. The trial is set for November.”

Hal further said:

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Several managers have openly admitted to keeping blacklists of the employees in question, and preventing them from seeking work at other companies. There have been numerous cases in which social justice activists coordinated attempts to sabotage other employees’ performance reviews for expressing a different opinion. These have been raised to the Senior VP level, with no action taken whatsoever.

Another article at Breitbart seems to corroborate Hal’s assertion (Emphasis added):

“One of the great things about Google’s internal communication mechanisms (G+, mailing lists, etc), is that, as a manager, I can easily go find out if I really want to work with you,” wrote another individual described on social media as a Google manager, Collin Winter. “I keep a written blacklist of people whom I will never allow on or near my team, based on how they view and treat their coworkers. That blacklist got a little longer today.”

That’s not all.  Hal told Breitbart that social justice activists working at the company fight their culture war all day long, not getting any work done.

“The diversity gospel has been woven into nearly everything the company does, to the point where senior leaders focus on diversity first and technology second,” he said.

As a result, he said, conservatives have either been driven out of the company or have been fired for holding a particular point of view.

“For conservative employees, this is obviously demoralizing, but it is also dangerous. Several have been driven out of the company or fired outright for sharing a dissenting view. Others have had their promotions denied or suffered other forms of deniable retaliation. Most of us just keep our heads down because we can’t afford to lose our jobs,” he said.

It also appears to be dangerous for conservatives at the company as well.  According to Breitbart, some implied the author of the manifesto is a Nazi and even advocated “punching” so-called “Nazis” — read: conservatives:

GoogleHal also told Breitbart that there have been a “number of massive witch hunts” at Google “where hundreds of SJWs mobilize across the corporate intranet to punish somebody who defied the Narrative.”

In one case, he said, “an employee raised concerns that the affirmative action policy (which gives strong preference to women and minorities) could be seen as discriminating against white males. SJWs trawled through his ancient posting history from four years prior, found a stray comment to take out of context, and burned him at the stake for it.”

Hal said he has heard similar stories from Facebook and fears that he could be purged or publicly shamed at the company.

He further warned that Google is “absolutely” working to control and censor content online.

“The pro-censorship voices are very loud, and they have the management’s ear. The anti-censorship people are afraid of retaliation, and people are afraid to openly support them because everyone in their management chain is constantly signaling their allegiance to far-left ideology. Our leadership (Sundar in particular) is weak, so he capitulates to the meanest bullies on the block,” Hal said.

Allum Bokhari said Hal’s interview is the first in a series on “Rebels of Google” and is well worth reading.
