Downtown Seattle – Pike Place Market was a chaotic scene on Wednesday, after an argument escalated between suspects at around 5 p.m.. One person is dead, 7 others injured. Suspects are still at large, and surveillance tape is being reviewed.
“This was not a random incident. There were multiple people involved. There was a dispute that happened in front of the McDonald’s. People pulled out guns and shots rang out.” Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best
The shooting took place just a half mile from an officer-involved shooting hours before. Police responding to the first incident had to rush to the “mass casualty” incident.

“Officials say a woman between 40 and 50 years old was killed while seven other people were hospitalized at Harborview Medical Center.
The youngest of the shooting victims, a 9-year-old boy, was listed in satisfactory condition Wednesday evening. Harborview spokesperson Susan Gregg said a 55-year-old woman was in critical condition and a 32-year-old man was in satisfactory condition.
The other four victims, men ages 21 to 49 years old, had all been treated and discharged from the hospital as of 10:05 p.m.”
Police are reviewing videos to see exactly how many people were involved in last night’s shooting. The Pike Place Market in the heart of downtown Seattle is a tourist destination that is normally fun for all. Coffee shops, a fish market, food and exotic stores. But with the difficulties in the city, things have turned upside down.
Seattle Struggles
Low Ratio of Police
Seattle is struggling with low manpower in their law enforcement. Police seem to not want to work there. As of September 20, 2019, at least 100 police officers quit in the previous year. The City began an aggressive moral-boosting hiring program to bring the totals back to par. But they were still 40 officers down.
Massive homelessness
Seattle has a growing homeless problem, which brings with it needles, human feces, and filth in every park. The city’s answer was to sue the Pharmaceutical company that makes the opioid Oxycontin rather than take responsibility for their own mistakes in dealing with the issue.
KIRO7 reported:
The lawsuit states that tens of thousands of needles still litter local parks, putting staff at risk and requiring them to provide reduced services to park-goers to avoid the chance of injury.
Sheriff’s deputies and Metro employees also are repeatedly exposed to dangers, and Metro has collected more than 650 pounds of the roughly pen-size needles since 2013.
The lawsuit is separate from suits filed by State Attorney General Bob Ferguson, the cities of Seattle, Tacoma, Everett and other U.S. cities.
Businesses Fleeing
Seattle has lost businesses to places like Kansas City because of their high taxes and regulations, according to BizJournal. Some have simply moved outside the city, but with Washington State in the hands of Democrats, many have left.
That’s not counting the gun businesses that have largely been forced out of the city because of their gun tax.
One of the Democrat’s campaign theme songs used to be “Happy Days are Here Again.” Not anymore.
