PBS: ‘Joe Biden facing sour reality’ with tanking poll numbers

Joe Biden is tanking in the polls, and he’s only been in office 11 months.

As 2021 winds down, so are Joe Biden’s poll numbers, with a new PBS News Hour/NPR/Marist College survey showing the Delaware Democrat gets only 41 percent job approval, against a 55 percent disapproval, according to a PBS report.

The news organization said Biden is “facing a sour reality: The number of Americans who approve of his performance has hit a new low.”

Looks like all Biden is getting for Christmas is a lump of coal in his stocking.

According to Fox News, “The 55% disapproval is 20 points higher than when Biden took office, while the ‘strongly disapprove’ (44%) result is six points higher than in a Marist poll taken just a week earlier.”

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Add to that, Rasmussen’s Daily Presidential Tracking Poll shows Biden with dismal numbers. Forty-two percent of likely voters think Biden is doing a good job while 57 percent disapprove of his job performance. But it gets worse when you look at the disparity between those who “strongly approve” (20%) of his job performance and those who “strongly disapprove” (48%). That is better than a 2-to-1 margin, and it suggests a lot of voters are feeling “buyer’s remorse” less than a year after Biden took office.

It’s a case of asking whether America is better off or worse off since Biden was sworn in.

In reporting on the PBS poll, Fox News notes that “Two-thirds of voters not affiliated with a party say they disapprove of Biden, with half saying they strongly disapprove.” The report added that only 29 percent of Independents now support Biden.

Inflation has spiked upward like a rocket, with gasoline prices being at or near the center of the problem, since it costs more to transport goods to stores, whether they be groceries, clothing or other consumer items.

It is also likely Biden’s poor performance on dealing with violent crime, the continuing COVID-19 pandemic—Biden’s holiday warning about “a winter of ‘severe illness and death’ for unvaccinated Americans” resulted in a nasty backlash—and remarks to reporters such as Tuesday’s admission “I’m not supposed to be having this press conference” raise concerns higher about who is really in charge, Biden or his handlers.

The debacle over Biden’s “Build Back Better” legislation, with Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) revealing over the weekend he would be voting “No,” merely added more to the president’s image as a loser.

And there are continuing concerns about Biden’s cognitive abilities, which have been questioned during his time in office as he has seemed to forget people’s names, and even referred to Kamala Harris as “president” on a couple of recent occasions.

On the horizon, some pundits are already talking about the 2022 midterm election as a possible “slaughter” for Democrats on Capitol Hill. Already, 23 Democrats have announced they will not seek re-election to the U.S. House next fall.
