Paris Burning – The Insurrection Against Macron’s Carbon Tax?

Once pegged as the world’s “City of Lights,” it’s now Paris burning. They’re calling it an “insurrection” as buildings and cars go up in flames across the city, and more protests occur around the entire country. Over 287 people of the Gilets Jaunes (yellow jackets) movement have been arrested so far. But in the rioting, the original purpose of the movement may have been lost.

“Paris, once the city of lights, is now the city of flames. A reckless socialist government, uncontrolled police state, massive amounts of new immigrants who hate the west, a weak lying Prime Minister, and a population that feels entitled to not work has destroyed a great city.” Charlie Kirk, TPUSA, on Twitter

Much of the violence has been blamed on vandals, called “casseurs” in French, who are believed to come from a variety of backgrounds including far-left anarchists, far-right extremists, and petty criminals from the heavily migrant-populated suburbs surrounding the French capital.

Some of the protestors caused controversy for spray painting graffiti on the Arc de Triomphe itself, with some calling it evidence that those behind it were likely far-left extremists with some of the graffiti stating “the ultra-right will lose” and “Justice for Adama” — a reference to the 2016 death of Adama Traoré, who activists claim was murdered by a Gendarmes officer.

Later in the day, a group of casseurs also set fire to a building near the iconic monument, which was not the only arson attack as 190 fires in total were dealt with during the day by Paris firefighters including six buildings set aflame altogether.

While there were no confirmed reports of fatalities, 110 people in total were wounded in the day-long violence, including 17 police officers. One of the most seriously injured was a man who lost several fingers on his hand due to the explosion of a pyrotechnic device.

The European Union press is asking whether Emanuel Macron can continue as President of France in the midst of such “insurrection.”

While the original purpose of the protests was aimed at Macron’s carbon tax on fuel- a “climate change” agenda, other forces appear to be making the mayhem worse. Which is the main reason why rioting is so deadly: once people begin running on adrenaline, all bets are off.
