Ohio paper edits photo to give Trump ‘Hitler’ mustache, claims it ‘would never intentionally’ insult president

On Monday, the Wapakoneta Daily News in Ohio published a photo of President Trump that had been edited to give the president what can only be seen as a “Hitler-style” mustache, angering a number of people.

The paper later apologized, claiming that it “would never intentionally” insult the president.  According to the apology, the edit was characterized as “sloppy.”

“The Wapakoneta Daily News regrets the image of President Donald Trump published on Page 1A of Monday’s newspaper,” Deb Zweb wrote.

Zweb added:

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

While we edit photos on a daily basis, this particular photo was edited in a sloppy manner to make it appear the president had a mustache.

The Wapakoneta Daily News would never intentionally insult our president in any manner.
It was an unfortunate incident which we continue to investigate and we offer our apologies to our readers.

Here’s an image of the paper’s front page that made its way to Twitter:

Keep in mind that liberals routinely refer to Trump as Hitler.  Many weren’t buying the paper’s explanation.

“Did this person just seriously write that the photo was ‘edited in a sloppy manner’???? I mean…..C’mon! A Hitler mustachewas (sic) drawn on the photo intentionally, and then printed on the front page. And the person responsible should lose their job,” one person said in response to the paper’s apology.

“The picture of our President in today’s newspaper is as intentional as any picture I’ve ever seen in any news paper! It’s a flat out lie to call it an accident! The publisher and anyone else that had anything to do with this article should be fired. This paper isn’t large enough you couldn’t proof read or look at all pictures in a few minutes. As for me I’m canceling my subscription in the morning and will never advertise again in this newspaper,” another reader said.

“It’s not an accident. It’s not fake news,” one person said in response to a post at the Gateway Pundit. “IT’S PROPAGANDA! Call it by it’s true name.”

It’s even worse than that.  Last year, “Dilbert” creator Scott Adams explained that “once you define Trump as Hitler, you also give citizens moral permission to kill him. And obviously it would be okay to kill anyone who actively supports a genocidal dictator, including anyone who wrote about his persuasion skills in positive terms. (I’m called an ‘apologist’ on Twitter, or sometimes just Joseph Goebbels).”

He added: “If Clinton successfully pairs Trump with Hitler in your mind – as she is doing – and loses anyway, about a quarter of the country will think it is morally justified to assassinate their own leader. I too would feel that way if an actual Hitler came to power in this country. I would join the resistance and try to take out the Hitler-like leader. You should do the same. No one wants an actual President Hitler.”
