Oh, rats! Rodent makes cameo appearance in Baltimore report

It was the video footage you just can’t pay for; during a report on the Sandtown area of Baltimore amid the flap over President Donald Trump’s remarks about conditions in Congressman Elijah Cummings’ congressional district, a rat appeared from the wall of an abandoned building and scurried across the cement and around the corner
WBFF/Fox 45 reporter Maxine Streicher was doing the live shot, according to CNS News, when the speedy rodent made its cameo appearance, almost as if on cue.

The president has come under criticism for making remarks about Cummings’ district after the veteran congressman lit into a Border Patrol official days ago about conditions in detention facilities on the U.S./Mexico border. Cummings and his supporters have been rather defensive about conditions in parts of Cummings’ district.

While one rat does not make a scandal, it did underscore the point Trump and his supporters have been trying to make, which may be as much about political hypocrisy as it is about alleged unsanitary conditions at border detention facilities.

The video clip has gone viral on social media, serving as an illustration that, perhaps, Trump has a point. Because of the rat’s unscheduled appearance, many are suggesting that Trump has won the argument.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Baltimore may become the official public example of what happens to a city under decades of liberal control. As reported earlier, the city has a body count so far this year that is at least 16 percent above last year’s, and summer isn’t even half over. By July 11, there had been 171 slayings in the city, and there have been more since. Non-fatal shootings are also up, in a city where honest citizens find it very difficult to even own a gun, much less carry one for personal protection.

The president has called Cummings’ district “far worse and more dangerous” than the border, according to Fox News. He called Cummings a “brutal bully” for his treatment of the government officials, which has brought many of the congressman’s constituents to his defense.

But nothing can erase the image of that rather large rat zipping across the screen as Streicher’s photographer kept the lens focused on its movement.
