New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is pushing a new law that would give teachers and administrators the ability to petition the court to have guns removed from the homes of students they feel are dangerous. Though the Republican controlled Senate may be able to block it, it would be the first law of its kind in the nation.
“While the conservative leadership in Washington remains immobilized by the NRA, in New York we refuse to be intimidated by the gun lobby and will continue to take action to protect the people of our state. Across the nation, students and communities are taking to the streets to demand change, and we are once again picking up the mantle of leadership from Washington with common sense measures to target the roots of school shootings, and prevent gun violence, tragedies and heartbreak.” Gov Cuomo in a press conference via WGRZ
A group of black anti-gun advocates were invited to the press conferece, but they were reportedly told to sit and keep quiet, according to the New York Post.
“You called us here under false pretenses!” Shanduke McPhatter of Gangtas Making Astronomical Community Change shouted, which briefly delayed the start of the press conference.

Teachers and administrators would join familiy members and law enforcement in the ability to petition the court to have guns removed from the homes of students they feel are at risk of violence. New York already has the “Extreme Risk” protection order law.
So would this “prevent gun violence” or create a quagmire? The teacher’s unions are all supporting this legislation.
According to AMNY,
“If the bill is passed, a judge would gather testimony and evidence from both the concerned teacher, parent and law enforcement member as well as the accused person before rendering their decision.”
Cuomo believes this is better than having teachers armed. Control is once again the plan of the left. Instead of true “common sense” in teaching children right from wrong, they operate out of fear, which simply destroys freedom of any kind. It’s not “gun safety,” it’s gun removal.
