Australia has cracked down on millions of residents because of a few hundred cases of the coronavirus. Communists in China are saying that the response is extreme. What kind of clown world is this?
Most people think that the Australian government’s decision to bring in the military to “assist” with the COVID lockdown is a bit extreme…but it’s a bit weird that China agrees.
That’s because it’s a disingenuous criticism. The Global Times, a mouthpiece for the Chinese government posing as a news outlet, is using Australia’s leap into authoritarianism as a way to criticize Western democracy and the ideals of “liberty” and “human rights.”
There have been simmering tensions between China and Australia for some time. Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison really ticked off the CCP when he called for an international investigation into the origin of the novel coronavirus back in April 2020. It got especially ugly when a Chinese official tweeted out a fake photo of an Australian soldier holding a bloodied knife to the throat of a child.

China continues to lash out against countries in the West for their response — even blaming them for the outbreak — while not being anywhere close to transparent on where this virus actually originated or disclosing information from the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
“This is a typical double standard on the side of Australia,” Chen Hong, a professor and director of the Australian Studies Centre, East China Normal University, told the Global Times on Sunday.
“Judging from the desperate situation in Sydney and the military reinforcement, Australia is aware that the right to life is the most important human rights. To help ensure the effectiveness of the lockdown, Australia’s move to send military personnel into Sydney seems draconian among nations,” Chen said.
Now, it is known to all that Australia’s incessant unwarranted criticism of China in terms of freedom and human rights is not about human rights at all. Instead, Canberra has exploited it to echo Washington’s anti-China policy, Chen said. “For a time, the Morrison administration has made use of every opportunity to smear and demonize China by politicizing issues such as lockdowns, QR code inspection, mass vaccination and other measures adopted in China’s battle against the Covid-19 pandemic,” he noted.
Chen said, “Australia has manipulated the definitions of democracy, freedom and human rights as a political weapon to discredit China. The Canberra government has been handling such concepts arbitrarily to serve their ulterior motives. Their goal is crystal clear that is to attack China.”

While some people are making jokes that the former penal colony has decided to treat all of its residents as prisoners again…but what’s going on in Australia over a few hundred cases of COVID, is really quite awful.
Australian soldiers are joining local police in New South Wales to enforce a coronavirus lockdown in and around Sydney as authorities try to tamp down the latest outbreak of cases linked to the more infectious delta variant.
Starting Monday, some 300 unarmed soldiers will begin patrols in Sydney — a city of 6 million people. They will be knocking on doors to ensure that residents are following strict stay-at-home measures, the Australian broadcaster ABC reported.

Some news stations in Australia are downplaying the role of the military in the lockdown, but when you look into it — it’s actually quite chilling. They’re outlawing protest, using drones for surveillance, and people are arrested and fined for not wearing masks, and they’ve discouraged being “friendly” with neighbors.

Yes, it’s all pretty awful, and it’s frankly, quite shameful behavior for Australia who should have more concern for liberty, but they’ve bought into the “zero COVID” idea.
The timing of this Chinese criticism is interesting.
In Wuhan, all 11 million residents are to be tested because of a coronavirus outbreak. It’s caused panic buying and store shelves are being cleared out. If you believe China’s numbers, this is the first outbreak in Wuhan since they were able to “control” the spread with lockdowns back in 2020. Yeah, right. That’s why survivors were silenced and crematoriums were working overtime. But I digress…
Millions in China are already under lockdown because of 300 cases in ten days.
More than 1.2 million residents in Zhuzhou were ordered to stay home Monday for the next three days as the central city rolls out a testing and vaccination campaign, Agence Frances Presse reported.
“The situation is still grim and complicated,” the city government said in a statement.
The lockdown comes after the city of Zhangjiajie also ordered its 1.5 million residents Friday to stay confined to their homes after an outbreak among theater-goers. It is unclear how long that quarantine will last.

Will the lockdown in China be less restrictive than Australia or more restrictive?
Let’s look at why their lockdowns worked and lockdowns everywhere else didn’t seem to stop the spread of the virus.

Yeah, as awful as Australia is behaving right now… China doesn’t have a leg to stand on here.
