No Misconduct or Bias by FBI in Inspector General FISA Report

People should have been aware that this was going to happen. Michael Horowitz, the Inspector General, found no intentional misconduct or bias from the FBI in the FISA report. US Attorney John Durham, who is conducting a wider investigation, strongly disagreed with the Horowitz findings.

FISA report

Just looking at the text messages between Peter Strzok and Lisa Page should tell ANYONE there was bias. They hated Trump, and so did much of their leadership. To say it wasn’t intentional is not accurate, no matter how many interviews were conducted for this report. The bare facts are that powerful people in the DOJ hated Donald J. Trump.

Attorneys for Andrew McCabe claimed that the IG’s FISA report vindicated their client.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

“[A]lthough the OIG’s detailed review of the original warrant and the three renewal applications found numerous errors, process failures, and isolated instances of misconduct, the OIG found that those took place at multiple layers below Mr. McCabe and other high-level executives at the FBI and DOJ.” McCabe attorney Michael Bromwich

John Durham strongly disagrees with some of the conclusions in the FISA report

Many pundits and personalities predicted “heads will roll” over the IG report. The only thing rolling is the laughter of the people who will now get away with their hate for the President. Even if Mr. Durham finds criminal wrongdoing, it will likely not touch the leadership, thanks to this IG report that literally makes the FBI leadership look lily white.

“Based on the evidence collected to date, and while our investigation is ongoing, last month we advised the Inspector General that we do not agree with some of the report’s conclusions as to predication and how the FBI case was opened.” John Durham

Durham’s investigation became a “full-fledged” criminal investigation back in October.

Fox reported:

Horowitz released his report Monday saying his investigators found no intentional misconduct or political bias surrounding efforts to launch that 2016 probe and to seek a highly controversial Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant to monitor former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page in the early months of the investigation. Still, it found that there were “significant concerns with how certain aspects of the investigation were conducted and supervised.”

“I have the utmost respect for the mission of the Office of Inspector General and the comprehensive work that went into the report prepared by Mr. Horowitz and his staff,” Durham said. “However, our investigation is not limited to developing information from within component parts of the Justice Department. Our investigation has included developing information from other persons and entities, both in the U.S. and outside of the U.S.”

The report has some criticism of the FBI, for “inaccuracies and omissions.” Fox also noted in a separate article:

The same report also faulted the FBI over numerous errors in the application process. The IG probe identified at least 17 “significant inaccuracies and omissions” in the Page applications and said they would launch a new audit into the FISA process. IG Michael Horowitz and his investigators were at times sharply critical of the bureau’s handling of the case, including for failing to share information that would have undercut claims in those documents.

In Washington’s highly charged political environment — and coming amid an impeachment fight — the sprawling, nearly 500-page report offered immediate talking points for both sides. Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer said Monday it demonstrated that the basis for the probe was “valid,” while former FBI director James Comey crowed that the early accusations against the bureau were “all lies.”

Endless investigations, constant use of taxpayer money for worthless paper for more and more “probes.” They’re just killing trees. Tree-huggers should protest.

So for those of you who were hoping that some folks would go to jail from the IG report, you are extremely disappointed. We’ve mentioned this before – no matter how many “probes” are conducted, no matter how much obvious bias exists, there are powerful people in high places that don’t want Trump in the White House. We can hope for John Durham’s report now, but don’t hold your breath.
