NM Rep Will Introduce Bill to Give Asylum to Canadian Truckers, Just Before US Truckers Set to Descend on DC

NM Rep Yvette Herrell (R) plans to introduce a bill that would grant asylum to Canadian truckers who have been mistreated by their government. The chances of it passing the House are slim and none, but the effort is admirable. But with US truckers planning to go to DC soon, can we have asylum for our own truckers? It is true that the Freedom Convoy affected commerce in Canada by shutting off the areas around Parliament. It was intended to create an inconvenience in order to bring attention to the problem. Trudeau chose to be vicious about it.

Justin Trudeau’s heavy-handed crackdown against peaceful protesters in Canada is not the action of a Western Democracy, but that of an authoritarian regime like Venezuela…Just as we provide asylum for political prisoners, we should do the same for truckers who have been subjected to violence, had their property confiscated, and their bank accounts frozen by a government that is quickly becoming the embarrassment of the free world. We cannot be silent as our neighbors to the north are treated so badly.

We have written extensively about the Communistic actions of Justin Trudeau and his police. To date there have been 170 arrests, with more likely. Congress has seen what is happening in Canada, and they know that there are plans for “The People’s Convoy” to come to Washington DC on March 6. The panic over what happened in Canada is real, and the panic over our own riot on Jan 6 has caused the fences to be re-erected in anticipation of the US truckers’ convoy.

But U.S. officials are concerned that the protests seen in Canada could be making their way to Washington, D.C. and elsewhere. Capitol Police said that they were aware of plans for truck convoys to come to the District around the time of President Biden’s first State of the Union.

“Law enforcement agencies across the National Capital Region are aware of plans for a series of truck convoys arriving in Washington, DC around the time of the State of the Union. As with any demonstration, the USCP will facilitate lawful First Amendment activity.”

Just like Capitol Police “facilitated free speech” on Jan 6? It is almost inevitable that Canada’s egregious actions toward their truckers’ protest will occur here. Like Trudeau, who suspended Canadian rights in order to crack down on protesters, it is highly likely that if the truckers try to stay in DC like they did in Ottawa, the same sort of thing will happen. The Biden administration could care less about rights and are unafraid to suspend them over an inconvenience. On Friday, Biden extended the “national emergency” over Covid, despite the fact that the numbers are lessening day by day and many states have dumped Covid restrictions already. His lack of consciousness toward liberty is a harbinger of what is to come.

The NM Rep is right to try, but her efforts will go nowhere with freaked out Democrats in charge.
