Nikki Haley Claims Posting Anonymously On Social Media A National Security Threat, Says ALL Users MUST Be Verified (Video)

While appearing on Fox News, former Ambassador Nikki Haley made the wild claim that posting anonymously on social media constitutes a national security threat. Furthermore, she said that if she’s elected to the White House, she would force social media companies to reveal their algorithms and force all users to be verified by name.

“What we need to remind Americans is antisemitism is no different than racism. They are both evil, and we don’t want to have that happen, but let’s go to the core of this,” she said.

“Antisemitism was always bubbling underneath the surface, but now we’re seeing this massive exaggeration of it, but no one is talking about why. The truth is, if you look at social media, the misinformation and the dramatic sides of social media are instigating this. Why? Because it’s being pushed by Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea,” she added.

“It is why when I get into office, the first thing we have to do, social media accounts— social media companies, they have to show America their algorithms. Let us see why they’re pushing what they’re pushing. The second thing is every person on social media should be verified by their name,” Haley declared.

“First of all, it’s a national security threat,” she claimed. “When you do that, all of a sudden people have to stand by what they say, and it gets rid of the Russian bots, the Iranian bots, and the Chinese bots. And then you’re gonna get some civility when people know their name is next to what they say, and they know their pastor and their family member’s gonna see it. It’s gonna help our kids and it’s gonna help our country.”

“I am no lawyer but isn’t this blatantly unconstitutional? Free speech includes anonymous speech,” Christina Pushaw wrote.

Think about the policy you’re endorsing in the hands of your political opponents. If one is a Republican, that’s pretty easy. We’ve been treated to and endless caravan of so-called “misinformation” experts. Whether Brian “Second Helpings, Please” Stelter, Nina “The Singing Fascist” Jankowitz or the countless buffoons in between, misinformation is wielded as a weapon.

Writing at the Gateway Pundit, Jim Hoft observed:

Critics argue that this proposal from Haley is unconstitutional. The First Amendment to the United States Constitution protects the right to free speech, and this right extends to online speech. This means that, in general, you have the right to post on social media anonymously without fear of government censorship.

Governor Ron DeSantis blasted Nikki Haley, saying, “You know who were anonymous writers back in the day? Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, and James Madison when they wrote the Federalist Papers.”

DeSantis added that “they were not “national security threats,” nor are the many conservative Americans across the country who exercise their Constitutional right to voice their opinions without fear of being harassed or canceled by the school they go to or the company they work for. Haley’s proposal to ban anonymous speech online — similar to what China recently did — is dangerous and unconstitutional. It will be dead on arrival in my administration.”

Also citing the Federalist Papers, Ramaswamy criticized her remarks as “disgusting.”

“Alexander Hamilton, John Jay & James Madison wrote the Federalist Papers under pseudonym. Here’s what they would say to Nikki Haley if they were alive: get your heels off my neck & go back to England,” Ramaswamy wrote.

Agreed. I support social media companies taking down bots and banning users for doxxing. But anonymous speech is inseparable from free speech. It's protected by our Constitution and for a good reason.

I have to agree. I liked Haley once upon a time, but seeing the way she operates and hearing what she’s said during this campaign has opened my eyes.

Perhaps it’s time for Haley to drop out and rethink things… While she’s at it, she should probably reacquaint herself with something called the Constitution of the United States.
