Nearly 2,000 Migrants Force Students into Virtual Learning

Your tax dollars at work

Remember when psychologists said that students suffered tremendously from virtual learning during the pandemic? Now because a storm in New York could cause problems for 2,000 migrants housed in a tent at Floyd Bennett Field, they’ve been relocated to James Madison high school gym in Brooklyn. And the students at the school are forced into virtual learning. Not very many people are happy about it, either.

The city made the move amid concerns that a massive migrant tent at Floyd Bennett Field would collapse from torrential rains and gusting winds — packing them instead into the second-floor gym at James Madison High School five miles away.

The school’s neighbors were not keen on the last-minute decision.

“This is f—ed up,” said a local resident who identified himself only as Rob. “It’s a litmus test. They are using a storm, a legitimate situation, where they are testing this out. I guarantee you they’ll be here for the entire summer.

“There’s 1,900 people getting thrown into my neighborhood, half a block from where I live and we don’t know who they are,” he said.

“They’re not vetted. A lot of them have criminal records and backgrounds and we don’t even know.” New York Post

And so it goes with the government’s stupidity. New York City is suing the bus companies that are transporting thousands of migrants to their streets. They should be suing the Biden Administration. New York City prides itself on being a “sanctuary city,” yet they are struggling to handle the flood of migrants. It’s their own fault. Now they are punishing the students. The best part is that the officials knew that the tent would be problematic.

From the announcement of the migrant camp being placed at Floyd Bennett Field, everyone, except apparently those running the camp, knew it would be a disaster. Countless members of our community said it was a horrible idea. Tents will be too cold in the winter, the tents will not withstand the high winds, the base is at risk of flooding. Despite these many warnings, our state and federal leadership proceed with this disastrous plan. The fact that they will have to temporarily move these migrants into an active high school is shocking, but not surprising. Our community cannot handle this crisis. The federal government must secure our border and the governor and mayor should listen to the people in their communities and reverse these disastrous policies…” NY Assembly candidate Col. Thomas Sullivan on X.com

They first began punishing the students when they chose Floyd Bennett Field in the first place – the soccer field had to be vacated to accommodate the massive tent. The students had no place to do their soccer either for practice or tournaments. That was strike one. Strike two is forcing high school students into virtual learning – a situation that all governments now know is detrimental to their well-being. Once again, the government’s ridiculous plans are harming students and citizens.  One journalist stated that the whole thing was their plan from the start.

“…residents were expected to shoulder the burden, including students who were forced into inadequate virtual learning. Wonderful.

It’s time the Democrats started shouldering the burden, instead. Let’s see Gracie Mansion, home of New York City’s mayor, turned into migrant housing. Same thing with Chuck Schumer and Kathy Hochul’s places of residence. And while we’re at it, the White House should be fair game, too. So, too, should Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas‘ digs.

After all, if these unvetted illegal immigrants are important enough to shove high schoolers out, they should be important enough to shove the people who all but invited them here out, too. No? Not willing to do that? Then stop this madness and send them back.” C. Douglas Golden, at the Western Journal

Way to go, Democrats. You started this virtual learning mess, now you’d better fix it before the ordinary people of New York fix it for you.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
