Nathaniel Berhow, Suspect in Santa Clarita School Shooting
Nathaniel Berhow, 16, is the suspect in Thursday’s Santa Clarita school shooting. Initially, he was thought to be a victim, but it was soon learned that he is the suspect (Daily Mail). One male, 14, and one female, 16, died when he opened fire. As of last night, Berhow was in “grave” condition after shooting himself in the head.

According to the surveillance video, the attacker pulled a .45-caliber semi-automatic pistol out of his backpack. He began firing at his classmates and then shot himself in the head.
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
Two girls, ages 14 and 15, are in good condition. One boy, 14, was hospitalized, treated and released.
Police have yet to find a real motive. Yesterday was Nathaniel Berhow’s 16th birthday. He was described as quiet and “introverted.” A sad way to celebrate. Berhow’s father died in December of 2017 of a heart attack, and some said that was the “trigger.” (Heavy.com) Some said he “drank” a lot and “made bullets.”
“As far as I could tell from the recent days that I’ve seen him, he was looking kind of down and I guess just kind of depressed about something. I didn’t really ask him what it was that he was depressed about, but from what I could tell he was different. He wasn’t acting like himself.” Maxwell, student at the school
SWAT teams entered the suspect’s home, and most news reports stated that his mother and sister assisted police in the investigation.
Saugus High School is about 20% Asian demographically. Berhow is 1/2 Asian. He was on the track team, and described as “smart.” Friends said he had a girlfriend, was not bullied, and gave no indication of a propensity to do this sort of thing. (CBS)
So now that everyone on the left is screaming for gun control worse than before, let’s review. California has extremely rigid gun control laws. They do not and never will stop this sort of thing from happening. What will?
If the father of Nathaniel Berhow died in 2017, by now he should have been able to move forward. He chose to kill. And until we as society learn to read the signs of someone who is entertaining evil thoughts, this kind of thing will continue. The gun didn’t do it, the kid did it.
