MSNBC: People ‘vote selfishly,’ support Trump despite ‘boorishness, dishonesty’ — Video

First, a brief lesson in human psychology. Yes, people vote selfishly, which is to say, for candidates who promise to deliver the things that are personally important to them. It’s called self-preservation and it is common in every living species on earth.

Lesson two: The above applies to Democrats whose support goes to candidates that promise free health care, unfettered abortion, and the right to take guns away from law-abiding citizens, which they believe — incorrectly — will solve the issue of gun violence.

Let’s hope this clears things up for MSNBC co-anchors Stephanie Ruhle and Ali Velshi, who expressed revulsion on Thursday that people who support Donald Trump might do so because it benefits them.

In the video that follows courtesy of The Washington Free Beacon, the pair commiserates with left-wing billionaire Tom Steyer, who attempts to put an unhappy spin on the Trump economy, which he claims is precipitating a decrease in purchasing power because inflation is outpacing wage growth. Data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics bear out Steyer’s claim, which is nevertheless only one indicator of the health of the economy. Under Trump, the GDP has risen to unexpected highs, while the unemployment rate continues to drop.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

But Steyer’s remarks were a sidebar to the whole fatuous conversation about the “unique” selfishness of Trump voters. One has to wonder whether Ruhle and Velshi would agree that black actor Samuel L. Johnson was being selfish when he voted for Barack Obama strictly on the basis of his skin color. Jackson went on to tell “Ebony Magazine”:

[T]hat’s why other folks vote for other people — because they look like them.

… That’s American politics, pure and simple. [Obama’s] message didn’t mean sh*t to me.

As for the candidate Jackson voted for, would Stephanie Ruhle deny that people voted for him in 2012 despite his dishonesty?
