MSNBC guest blames conservative ‘economic anxiety’ in ‘apology’ for calling Mollie Tibbetts just ‘a girl in Iowa’

As many outlets reported, Christina Greer, a professor at Fordham University, callously dismissed murder victim Mollie Tibbetts as just “a girl in Iowa” that “Fox News is talking about.”

According to BizPac Review:

Greer falsely claimed that Fox News didn’t cover Paul Manafort’s tax-fraud conviction or Michael Cohen’s plea deal for bank fraud in order to cover the death of Mollie Tibbetts, who was murdered by an illegal alien.

“Fox News is talking about, you know, a girl in Iowa and not this, right?” said Greer, who teaches “black ethnic politics” at Fordham University. Imagine Christina Greer’s outrage if a white guest had dismissed Trayvon Martin as just “a boy in Florida.”

For the record, Fox News led their 5 p.m. news coverage with the Manafort trial, discussed the Tibbetts murder, and then covered the Michael Cohen plea deal.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, Newsbusters informs us that Greer later offered a very weak “apology” and went so far as to blame conservative “economic anxiety” for her comments.

“Yesterday I said something flippant that was unintended. Mollie Tibbets was a promising young woman who lost her life. My hope is that her family will find peace & justice and that her murder is not used to justify a discriminatory immigration policy,” Greer said on Twitter.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Flippant?  A young woman is dead allegedly at the hand of an illegal alien and Greer thinks her dismissive comment was simply “flippant?”

Curtis Houck said that not long after her initial statement was made known, she blamed “economic anxiety” on the part of conservatives.

“When right wing media decides to target you, you really see the ‘economic anxiety’ come out,” she tweeted.

What does that even mean?  And what does it have to do with Tibbetts’ murder?

Houck added:

Well, at least Greer didn’t go as far as CNN’s Symone Sanders did, which was to suggest that not only did Tibbetts’s murder have nothing to do with illegal immigration, but that it was because of toxic masculinity and the male species in general.

It should be added that she claimed in the first tweet of her thread that “[i]t’s problematic for people to characterize an entire community based off the actions of one person.”

Houck also provided Greer’s full statement to provide context:

The fact that he was sworn in as President after the Access Hollywood tape let me know for a fact that the Republican Party is actually not working on behalf of the American people. They are working on behalf of President Trump and he’s been able to bully them into their silence and I don’t think today changes as much, unfortunately. I’m sure we’ll hear what he has to say about this at his — his rally, but Fox News is talking about, you know, a girl in Iowa and not this, right? And, tomorrow morning, we know he’ll wake up in tweak and sort of, you know, besmirch the reputation of Michael Cohen and all the people around him and then go back to Mueller. And this has, obviously, been boiled down to Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

This, by the way, is the modern left…
