More liberal terrorism? Secret Service intercepts letter to White House believed to contain ricin

How far is the radical left willing to go?  On Tuesday, The Hill and others reported that the Secret Service intercepted a letter to the White House believed to contain the deadly poison ricin.  According to the report, the letter appeared to be connected to two others sent to the Pentagon.  Those letters, addressed to Defense Secretary James Mattis and Chief of Naval Operations Adm. John Richardson, tested positive for ricin.

Fortunately, the letter sent to the White House never made it to its intended target, which was President Trump.

“The envelope was not received at the White House, nor did it ever enter the White House,” said a Secret Service spokesman who confirmed the letter was addressed to the president.

The Hill further reported:

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

The Secret Service statement came hours after Pentagon spokesman Col. Rob Manning said in a statement that staff there detected a suspicious substance in multiple letters while screening mail on Monday.

CNN first reported that the letters tested positive for the poisonous substance ricin. No illnesses were reported from exposure to the toxin.

Ricin, the New York Post tells us, “is a highly toxic compound extracted from castor beans. Tiny doses of the compound can be deadly if swallowed, inhaled or injected.”

In a press release issued Tuesday, the Secret Service said that “all threats directed towards the President, or any Secret Service protectee, are treated seriously and fully investigated.”

The news prompted quite a few to blame domestic liberal terrorists on social media:

Exit question: Do liberals REALLY want a second bloody civil war over Donald Trump?
