If Minnesota Democrats Jerry Newton and Heather Edelson get their way, all lawnmowers, chainsaws and Zambonis that are powered by gas will be banned from use in the state. The proponents of this idea are obviously oblivious to the problems of batteries. California signed a similar law back in 2021, and other states are considering it. Bully for the Climate Cult – they’re managing to b.s. the country into destroying American businesses.
The Climate cult’s bad idea
Two Minnesota Democratic lawmakers are proposing a pair of bills that would significantly impact the state’s backyards and neighborhood ice rinks in an effort to combat climate change.
State Reps. Jerry Newton and Heather Edelson, members of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, introduced legislation on Monday that would block the sale of common landscaping appliances like lawn mowers and chainsaws as well ice-resurfacing machines such as Zambonis, requiring that only electric battery versions be sold in the state starting Jan. 1, 2025.
The ban on lawn and garden equipment would include any machine that uses “a spark ignition engine rated at or below 19 kilowatts or 25 gross horsepower.” Commonly used landscaping tools like lawn mowers, leaf blowers, hedge clippers, chainsaws, lawn edgers, string trimmers and brush cutters would all be prohibited by that definition. Practicality
IF you are a large landowner, switching to electric could be an issue. A small backyard would probably be fine with one battery, maybe two. But a larger yard is another story. According to Popular Mechanics, a hot battery takes longer to charge, so if you put that mower battery on charge and hope to get back to it after you eat lunch, you could be “in for a surprise.”
Electric chainsaws aren’t as efficient at long-term cutting as gas-powered ones and tend to stall out on large jobs. Which could be a serious problem for timber workers who need to saw certain quantities of trees to meet their quotas. But of course, the leftists don’t like them anyway, so they don’t care.
The radical climate change cultists insist that gas stoves cause asthma and put out more than their fair share of methane and other greenhouse gases. They’re not just after your gas stoves and the entire restaurant industry, but loggers, homeowners, landscapers, and various other businesses. The two Minnesota Democrats who have bought the idea are only a drop in the proverbial bucket of radicals who are trying to “save the planet.”
