Milo event at UC Davis canceled thanks to violent liberal protesters

On Friday, Breitbart.com reported that UC Davis College Republicans had to cancel a scheduled appearance by Milo Yiannapoulos after violent liberal protesters tore down barricades, attacked cameramen and threw hot coffee on a local ABC10 camerman. Unconfirmed reports said windows at the venue were smashed, Breitbart reported.
“We were told by the chief of Davis police that they could not guarantee the safety of the students, the speaker, or the police officers if the event should go ahead,” Gabrielle McDowell, vice chair of the UC Davis College Republicans, said in a statement.
“As the organisation hosting the event, we would have been held personally responsible for any harm caused as a result of its taking place. We were therefore forced to cancel the event” she added.
According to Breitbart:
MILO and his co-speaker, entrepeneur Martin Shkreli are both reportedly unharmed. Arrests have reportedly been made.
Shrekli was videoed outside the venue, where he explained his plans to explain third-wave feminism to MILO.

ABC7 reported:
Protesters and people interested in the event were so heated they didn’t even believe that the event was canceled when it was announced. People for and against the event rallied for hours.
Protesters blocked doors. Police tossed them out. Nobody got inside, not even the Davis College Republicans’ headliner, conservative commentator Milo Yiannopulos.
“We came here to have an event that would promote free speech,” said Executive Director of the College Republicans at Davis Andrew Mendoza. “And we didn’t get to have any speech.”
The 400 free tickets went quick, and not just to students. Brandon Toney-James drove in from Sacramento. “Milo is a rising young conservative star, and I wanted to see him pretty much close and in person,” he said.
Here’s video of protesters assaulting Milo’s cameraman, courtesy of Breitbart.com (Warning: Graphic language):
Matt Perdie told Breitbart:
“One of the protesters didn’t like the fact that I was filming him while working for Breitbart, so he summoned a few of his smelly cronies on me, instructing them to get me away from him. A bunch of them started yelling obscenities in my face, another was shoving me by ramming me with his back towards me.
It’s pathetic. These losers try to do everything in their power to intimidate and silence those with opposing opinions.
Then the same protester who told people to push me away then proceeded to tell the other protesters to grab my camera.”
“MILO fans were also present at the event, interacting with protesters and singing the national anthem. At least one brought her own placard,” Breitbart said.
This was supposed to have been the first event on the third leg of Milo’s “Dangerous Faggot Tour,” the report said.
This, by the way, is what liberals mean by “tolerance.”
