Lying Biden Ran As A ‘Defender Of Democracy’; Now Attacks Co-Equal Branches Of Government Abroad
There was a time, not so long ago, in which common wisdom and decency required that our national domestic disputes should be resolved at home while we stand united in speaking to the world.
Biden has no interest in doing that.
When he went to his NATO summit this week, Joe had his first press conference in months. He made no effort to hide the fact that he was working from a prepared list of reporters he would call on. It would surprise precisely nobody if it were revealed that those questions had been submitted and vetted beforehand.
That press conference gave him questions about the Roe V Wade decision and asked about his reaction to it.
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
This gave him an opportunity to show the world whether he was going to handle this political setback as a statesman or as a partisan. He chose the latter.
Here is a sampling of the tone Biden took while addressing an international audience:
PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN: The one thing that has been destabilizing is the outrageous behavior of the Supreme Court of the United States and overruling not only Roe v. Wade but essentially challenging the right to privacy.
…BIDEN: If you care, if the polling data is correct and you think this decision by the court was an outrage or a significant mistake, vote. Show up and vote. Vote in the off year. And vote, vote, vote. That’s how we’ll change it. —NPR
The larger context of that attack on SCOTUS was when the lead-off question pointed the economy collapsing around him, soaring inflation and oil prices, and most importantly, the belief of most Americans that his leadership is taking him in down the wrong track.
But more than the criticism of how his own citizens viewed his leadership blunders, he seemed most bothered by the reporter saying other world leaders were critical of his leadership, because that was the first thing he responded to.
Perhaps THAT is what prompted him to pivot into an unprecedented attack on a co-equal branch of government whose legitimacy is grounded in articles of the same Constitution in which his own legitimacy is grounded.
If he doesn’t like the process that put THEM into office, he should recall that the process that put him into office was hardly without controversy. Those controversies included Time Magazine reporting on various organizations conspiring together in an effort of ‘fortifying the election’ to ensure a Biden win, and Democrat Mark Zuckerberg dropping hundreds of millions in money to boost Dem turnout in battleground states that was determined to have contravened political bribery regulations by at least one state.
Biden went on to talk about breaking the filibuster in the Senate to achieve his political objectives.
Interesting. In a single press conference, he’s undermined the independence of not one, but TWO co-equal branches of government. All in the name of ‘defending democracy’, to be sure.
Mitch McConnell’s official statement in response hit the nail on the head:
Another Dangerous Attack on the Supreme Court
LOUISVILLE, KY- Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) issued the following statement following President Biden’s attack on the Supreme Court:
“Attacking a core American institution like the Supreme Court from the world stage is below the dignity of the President. Beyond that, President Biden’s attacks on the Court are unmerited and dangerous. He’s upset that the Court said the people, through their elected representatives, will have a say on abortion policy. That does not destabilize democracy – it affirms it. By contrast, it is behavior like the President’s that undermines equal justice and the rule of law.
“The President launched this inappropriate attack when he was asked about whether or not we are on the right track as a country. The President needs to take a look in the mirror. The Supreme Court isn’t responsible for inflation, high gas prices, crime in the streets or chaos at the border. He is. No amount of blame shifting on the global stage will change that.”
Having no actual successes he can point to, the only card Biden has left to play is the one he’s been playing since the beginning — manufactured outrage and slander against the other side.
He cannot point to reasons his team is better. The best he can do is try slinging enough mud to convince the credulous that the other team is worse.
It worked in 2020 because a pandemic could be leveraged as evidence against Trump. But 2022 is another story since his party has had the run of the place for the last 2 years and pretty much everyone agrees it’s falling apart.
Biden spent so much of his campaign bragging about how strong, bold, and tough, he was, but is it not true that it’s weak men who look for others to blame for their failures? Is that not what he’s been doing for the past 2 years?
