Lock Her Up: ‘Squad’ Member Rashida Tlaib Being Investigated For Potential Ethics Violations

Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib has been recommended for investigation by the Office of Congressional Ethics over potential campaign finance violations.

The House Ethics Committee, according to Politico, “is reviewing a potential campaign finance violation by [Tlaib] during her 2018 campaign.”

The complaint suggests Tlaib may have reimbursed herself from her own campaign fund after the 2018 election when she was no longer a candidate.

The self-payments were first reported back in March by the Washington Free Beacon, who noted Tlaib had been paying herself from the campaign for several months.

What raised eyebrows was the fact that “Tlaib cut herself a $2,000 check on Nov. 16 and disbursed $15,500 to herself on Dec. 1” according to Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings.

“Candidates are allowed to draw a salary during their campaign period but are blocked from doing so the day after the general election,” writes the Washington Examiner.

While these latest reports do not indicate any confirmation of wrongdoing, the House ethics panel opted to extend its preliminary review after the OCE suggested further scrutiny.

A spokesman for the Michigan Democrat said Tlaib “has cooperated completely with the committee to resolve the referral, which involves the same claims over her publicly disclosed salary during the campaign that conservative groups pressed back in March.”

Tlaib has courted controversy ever since her first day in office, with video showing her shouting to supporters that “we’re going to impeach the mother******,” referring to President Trump.

She is currently selling t-shirts with the same message to raise money for her campaign with the likelihood that she’ll continue to pay herself from those coffers in the near future.

Tlaib also had a recent unhinged meltdown over a witness allegedly being engaged in a conspiracy by winking and incited vile protesters to start a profanity-laced chant on the East Lawn of the Capitol.

Tlaib becomes the third member of the ‘Squad’ – a group of radical extremists on the left who control House Speaker Nancy Pelosi – to run into ethical if not legal problems.

Rep. Ilhan Omar allegedly used campaign funds to pay over $20,000 in “travel expenses” to the company owned by a man she was having an affair with, something government ethics watchdogs have said is “probably” a violation.

In June, Omar was ordered to personally reimburse her campaign for just under $3,500 and pay a $500 civil penalty for using campaign funds to pay for a trip to Florida.

The left-leaning Minneapolis Star-Tribune also famously reported on documents raising questions as to whether Omar married her brother as a means to “skirt immigration laws.”

Squad leader, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez courted trouble when her former chief of staff Saikat Chakrabarti became a target in an ongoing federal investigation alleging he funneled money into a pair of privately-owned companies.

A Federal Election Commission filing states that her campaign PACs “funneled more than $1 million in political donations into two private companies that Chakrabarti also incorporated and controlled” as a means to skirt reporting requirements.

Sources claimed that Ocasio-Cortez’s minimum salary policy for staffers may have actually been a ploy to help Chakrabarti “dodge public financial-disclosure rules.”

Looks like Tlaib is simply trying to keep pace with the rest of the ethically-challenged Squad.
