At least six arrested at Berkeley, reports claim Antifa threw feces at conservatives

Berkeley protestOn Thursday, Fox News reported that at least six people were arrested after hundreds gathered at UC Berkeley to protest a canceled speech by conservative columnist Ann Coulter.  Making matters worse, reports claim that Antifa protesters actually threw human feces at conservatives.

One of those arrested refused to remove his surgical mask and identify himself, SFGate said.

According to Fox News:

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

University police erected barricades and refused to let any protesters enter the campus. At least 6 people were arrested — one for obstructing an officer and wearing a mask to evade police, and another for possessing a knife, Berkeley police Officer Byron White told the Associated Press.

Police in riot gear had prepared for possible violence between supporters and opponents of Coulter, but there were no major confrontations as the raucous rally wrapped up in the late afternoon.

Coulter told Fox News’ Tucker Carlson on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Thursday that Berkeley claimed the threat of violence is what led to the cancellation, but she’s not buying it.

“There are ways of dealing with violence,” Coulter told Carlson. “We do have a police force.”

“Berkeley, as you know all along, they’ve been changing their position every five minutes,” she said to Fox News on Wednesday. “It’s like a game of musical chairs and whenever the music stops the answer is, ‘no, she can’t speak.’ My allies whom I love are on the same side, they ran away, they gave in. And then there was nothing I could do.”

Meanwhile, the Gateway Pundit said that Antifa terrorists on Reddit announced they would be throwing feces at conservatives.  And it appears that may have happened.

A post at The Goldwater said:

Things took a turn for the worse when Gavin McInnes‏, a popular Libertarian commentator, reported that antifa protesters were defecating into their hands and throwing their feces at the free-speech group.

Warnings of this came from several sources, including @RavenHUWolf who reposted a circulating antifa graphic which shows men deficating on streets, signs and a police car. The text reads “Wear gloves. Shit in your hands. Throw it at them.”

Comparing Antifa thugs to chimps, a post at Fire Andrea Mitchell added:

I hesitate to call Antifa primates or chimps though because I think it’s unfair to primates and chimps. Antifa fascists leftists are much dumber than chimps, and far less evolved.

ABC7 reported:

The tension illustrated how Berkeley has emerged as a flashpoint for extreme left and right forces amid the debate over free speech in a place where the 1960s U.S. free speech movement began before it spread to college campuses across the nation.

University police set up bright orange barricades at the university’s main plaza as a precaution for possible crowd control. Berkeley police deployed dozens of officers on the Cal campus shortly before noon, and an armored police vehicle was also seen patrolling one street on campus. Also, city officers patrolled a park where two far-right groups said they would hold protests.

“Efforts by the university to cancel or delay the Coulter event dealt a blow to Berkeley’s image as a bastion of tolerance and free speech,” ABC added.  Actually, it’s the left’s hateful response to conservative speech that has dealt a blow to Berkeley’s image.
