LA County Deputy Shot in the Head at Alhambra Jack in the Box
An LA County Deputy was shot in the back of the head in Alhambra, California on Monday night while waiting in line for food at a Jack in the Box. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The incident occurred on Monday evening around 5:45 p.m.. The suspect walked up to the off-duty officer and shot him in the back of the head, then fled the scene.
ABC7 reported:
“Nothing overtly that would indicate he was a law enforcement officer. He was off duty…The shooting is on video. There doesn’t appear to be an overt motive. There is no audio to the video, so we don’t know if there were words exchanged.” Capt. Kent Wegener, LA County Homicide
The suspect is described as a white male 20 – 30 years old, between 5’9″ and 5′ 11″. Police believe he changed his clothes at a nearby residence shortly after the shooting. He was seen driving a white Kia Sportage 4-door SUV with paper license plates.

The suspect is still at large. Because this does not appear to be a random shooting, did the gunman know who the LA county deputy was since he’d been on the force for 13 years?
An intense manhunt was initiated for the shooter. The deputy is in the USC medical center fighting for his life. His name has not been released.
